Everybody loves beer Day 22
We are locked and loaded… the truck is packed, well more like over stuffed, we cratered and bought a roof rack as we have no room inside with 5 people plus all camping gear… I really want to know how mom and dad did it when we were kids… lol. The poor truck sags pretty hard in the back and doesn’t exactly want to hold any high speeds on hill climbs… dropping from 100 to about 75 on a good climb, of course were not flooring it as we are trying to save fuel but I’m sure that little 3 litre is ready to tell me to “F” off… We had a short drive today of only 2.5 hours to get to Noosa where I had booked a camp for us. It sounded off the beaten track and it was... when you’re a passing “grid” sign that sure says something. After about a 3km drive down a road that was more like a grader drove through the woods we arrived… with a trail of black behind us… nope the car is fine still.. Its those damn mosquitoes… all of them, they seem to prefer tourist blood to locals...
camp
Jackie and Sam as maybe after drinking locals blood they cant fly very straight… but what can I say… I fell into a pond that night after a few to many beers. But to my defence it did look like a trail through the trees… after a few more beers we all headed to bed.
Day 23
Time to wake up and explore the area, out to Mill Point we go. It is the old location of just that a mill, back in the 1880’s it used to be a bustling little port/town but now all that is left is the remnants of a chimney and an old boiler. The walk was nice though, although at points was getting a little hot under the sun. But overall was a nice day to just enjoy the sun and get out to explore which is a favourite for me, not so much the others though... as the km’s can really add up and poor sam is getting blisters. It’s back to camp where another load of backpackers have arrived and are playing drinking games to the wee hours of the morning. We do manage a few hours of sleep though.

Prep day, it’s off the Fraser Island tomorrow and boy are we stoked, I can’t wait to put this truck in 4x4 and see where it can go. We spent most of today lounging on the beach in Noosa and a quick trip to the market for food and supplies for the island trip… which happened to be 90 cans of beer. Now the truck is really over weight... we end the night having a few drinks around the camp fire at the hostel and shut it down around 12 for some sleep.
