Day 27 was mainly uneventful as over 6 and a half hours of it were spent traveling.
We boarded a train, which we had actually been able to reserve seats on, and had a long trip, with a short stop in Milan, to Venice. The train was cool because it had power outlets and we could keep the laptop charging while on the train, which meant we could watch episodes of Dollhouse the whole way (which, by the way, is a really weird show). We kept having to pause it to look out at the huge mountains covered in snow as we were going through Switzerland.
By the time we reached Milan, we we sick of watching dvds, so we just chatted and looked out the window at the buildings changing from what we had seen in Switzerland. It is so cool how all these countries are so close together, yet they each have such a uniqueness, and very different styles in so many ways.
We got into Venice main station (on the mainland) and about 5.30 and had to wait a little while for a bus to take us out to the place we were staying at.
We got
onto the bus with our ridiculous amount of luggage and sat there, waiting and waiting for our stop. It took about forty minutes, and was on the other side of the airport.
We were a little bit nervous about what this place would be like, but were feeling pretty optimistic at this point, and their flyer looked like they had a lot of restaurants we could eat at anyway, and we were very hungry!
It took ages to check in, and then we went to our "cabin" which was actually a caravan with the wheels covered over. It was on a massive lean, it stunk, and we could feel every spring and every wire in the mattresses.
We went to find out if they had anything even slightly better (the lean was driving Danny crazy, and well, I was in shock at the whole thing). They told us they had another cabin free which was a bit bigger since it was for three people, so we moved all our stuff to that one, only to find that it was not actually bigger, it just had a bunk bed in there instead of one of the single beds. Which to me felt a whole lot smaller, but it wasn't on a lean, and the smell was slightly less pungent, so we decided it was the lesser of two evils.
We went off to try and find some food, and first tried the Pizzeria. It was closed to be renovated.
Next we tried a pub - it was full of Topdeck people who gave us rude glares when we walked anywhere near them.
Okay, so we went and asked at the reception, and they sent us to the Gondola's Pub, which was full of BusAbout people, and the guy working there looked at us like we were crazy, and told us he was full.
Well that was all of the food places that the campsite had to offer, and we were a forty minute bus ride away from the city. So we asked at the reception again, and they sent us "only a little way" up the road to another restaurant. It wasn't really a "little" way at all, more like fifteen minutes walking alongside a highway, and then having to cross this highway to walk up another road and eventually find a restaurant. But the food was good, and we were fed, at least.
We went back to the campsite (despite not wanting to ever return - our only other option was the casino though) and tried to make use of the free wifi. It only worked in certain places though, and kept dropping out whenever I tried to upload photos onto our blog, so we gave up, went back to the terrible cabin and eventually, to the loud roar of planes, went to sleep.

take the good with the bad
I like the saying count your blessings because we need to remember that we are really blessed, especially being able to take such wonderful holidays! Least you only have a short time in Venice and I hope the sightseeing is worth putting up with the "terrible cabin". Take care mum ps looking forward to seeing more of the pictures that you couldn't upload. Love you
