Edit Blog Post
Hello everyone,
We appologize for the delay in our blog updates but we have been having a hard time finding somewhere that we could upload our photos.... we will upload them soon! :-)
To update you on where we have been/ what we have been doing...
After Magnetic island we parted ways with our friends Jake and Jordana. We went to Airlie beach for the day and then took an overnight bus to Agnes Water/ 1770. The overnight bus was quite a test and quite uncomfortable but we managed to survive. We stayed at a nice quiet hostel that had free bike rentals. So we spent Valentine's day biking around and checking out the area.
The next day we were off again, on to Hervey Bay. Which was our base for our trip to Fraser island. We spent the day relaxing, waiting for our trip briefing which for this tour company meant using scare tactics to intimidate you/ think that everything you did was going to put your bond in danger. We were not impressed at all with the tour company and their approach to running a camping tour but we were off the next morning for
a 3 day trip to Fraser island.
Fraser island is the world's largest sand island and home to some unique landscapes and wildlife. We enjoyed the island itself quite thoroughly even though it rained basically the entire time. This also meant we couldn't take a whole lot of pictures which is a real bummer but we got a few good ones when the rain would let up for a bit. We also had some face to face encounters with DINGOS! They literally all over our campsites. This is apparently a new problem for the island because tourists have been feeding them and they have grown accustomed to this. This is a real danger and they warned us not to feed them or encourage them in any way. They literally knocked things over and ripped up parts of our groups tents! There is so much more to say about Fraser so we'll have to tell you guys about it when we get back.
After the camping trip we were back to Hervey bay for a night which was also one of the best sleeps we've had on the trip. What a difference a roof over your head and a
mattress can make after sleeping on sand/rocks in the rain for 3 days.
We left Hervey bay and then made a stop in Noosa. It was quite lovely there and had a good surf break judging by all the people out there when the tides were at their best. The hostel we stayed at was recently bought out and undergoing massive rennovations and it defintiely showed 😊 We're sure it will be lovely when it's done but at the moment it was sorta falling apart. We still had a great time though and wished we could have stayed longer.
From Noosa we came to Brisbane. We will be spending the next little while here. Seeing the sights and returning to some degree of normalacy after the Fraser ordeal.
We're checking out the Australia Zoo tomorrow, which for those who don't know is the zoo that Steve Irwin made famous basically. We're very excited for this and will definitely get pictures up when we can.
Hope you're all enjoying the Olympics! We have been getting small doses of it but unfortunately no hockey yet!
Bye for now!

Dingos?...wow!
For such a scarry creature...they have such a sucky name...I guess they have something to prove....glad your encounter with those hairy guys wasn't hands on!! The Olympics have been great to watch...be sure to leave an inukshuk somewhere on your travels! Emma wants to know...does an Australian zoo have Canadian animals, much like our zoos have animals from around the world. Thanks again for keeping us posted...we are truly enjoying it. Emma will go to school today and share your dingo adventure!!
