It has been a whole week in Paris already, wow. I feel like I have fit so much into my first week! I feel like I need a break!

Today I did a little bit of shopping for some food stuff, for lunches, like fruit. Also some tea and cough drops. I may have to try to find some sudafed tomorrow. Might be staying in on Tuesday so my body can get some rest before classes start, although I would like to do a little bit of shopping before the sales are gone. I want to get some more scarves, maybe another pair of shoes. I seriously think my shoes are all going to be completely worn out by the end of this trip.

After shopping, I went to Catherine's house for lunch. We had this delicious fresh soup with une baguette, followed by salad and ham. We then made our way to the Centre Pompidou, which was free because it is the first Sunday of the month! It is a very distinctive looking building.

We went to the temporary exhibition as well, of Pierre Soulages. We started with the video at the end of the exhibit, which was a lot longer than I expected, and tricky to understand. I enjoyed the paintings. He likes to use primarily black paint, but many of his later works included a lot of different textures in the paint, causing light to reflect differently. All of his work was very abstract. After the exhibition, we stopped in the restaurant for some tea and to share a chocolate cake. The tea was very good, and the chocolate cake may have been the best I've ever had! The outside was a very moist cake, and the inside was molten chocolate! It was heavenly.

After le goûter, we wet to the permanent exhibition. I liked it a lot, especially many paintings from the early 20th century. I loved the Picasso stuff as well, and the of the geometric artwork. Some modern art I do not get. For example, painting an entire canvas blue or orange, without any different textures or anything. ANYONE could do that, how do I get one in a world-famous museum? Haha. Also, finding some random piece of metal and putting your name on it, is that really art? Or my favorite, the giant sparkly balls that now grace our lovely campus. However, Paris really puts TCNJ architecture to shame. Paris knows how to have public art that isn't gaudy as well, and that you can climb on, unlike giant balls.

Catherine is a wonderful guide of Paris! I am learning a lot about the architecture from the different centuries, as well as bits of Parisian history! My only complaint so far is the dreary weather.

Tonight for dinner was a stew with chicken, sausage, hamburger, carrots, and onions. The sauce it was in was amazing, and some more potatoes puree. I am guessing they might come from a box. But the stew was AMAZING.

Tomorrow will be my first day of the Louvre! I plan to keep track of what we see, so I can go back and see something new every time. My goal is to complete it by the time I leave. I think I will go this Friday night to the extended hours, it is supposed to be very pretty and quieter at night. The tourists in the museums drive me nuts, because they are loud and obnoxious. So many Americans here giving us all a bad name. I have absolutely loved every museum I have been in so far, and plan to see many more!

Bonne nuit tout le monde!
