The perfect place to celebrate our anniversary The day we were headed for Koh Pha Ngan we were picked up at our hotel in Phuket late, as usual (Asians are always so keen to get your money but there service is horrible) and sat on the mini bus for a five hour trip which was only meant to take three and a half hours. The reason it took so long is because the bus kept meeting other buses and swapping passengers who were going to different destinations. When we finally arrived at the jetty the people who kept hopping off our bus to change with other buses were there anyway so it was a big f#@$ waste of time. So we waited another hour for the boat to come to take us to Koh Pha Ngan. We were told that we would arrive there at 3pm and arrived at the island at 8.30pm. How’s that: five and a half hours late!! So after a big day of travel we arrived and with the normal havoc of taxi drivers awaiting a boat full of money, I mean tourists, we got in a ute/cab, waited more and more and more and then got taken to the other side of the
island instead of just five minutes from where the boat pulled in. The taxi driver then got lost and we finally arrived at our bungalow at 9.30pm. The place we are staying for the next five days is called Morning Star, $40 a night in Bankai. By the way this day being the 12th of March, it was Erin’s and my 2 year anniversary. Because of the shit day we decided to celebrate it the next day.
We did not realise how amazing the place we were staying in was until the next morning when we gazed out our window to find our bungalow metres from the crystal blue ocean and deserted beach, "Happy anniversary baby". Perfect. We spent the morning on the beach, swimming, reading then hired a motorbike in the late afternoon and attempted to ride it to the main town Haad Rin (were all the tourists are) for some shopping and dinner. The town is like any other busy, full of markets, restaurants and many tourists all ready for the Full Moon Party. Funny thing is that we often think that Asians look the same, but when you are away from home all westerners look the
same. We had tea at a restaurant that was laying endless episodes of Friends and we got suckered in there and stayed for hours. On the way into town on our pathetic bike we had a lot of trouble. This bike was on its last days and we found it very hard to make it up the very steep hills into town. Absolutely shit scared we made it in and we decided we would attempt to drive it home. We didn’t make it very far until a man pulled over and Erin jumped on the back of his bike and I rode my one home, stalling it up hills.
The next day the bike would not start so we decided to take it back to the shop and trade it. This owner, an english man (who we think lives here for his little thai wife) who we told about the bike, was not happy that we dared to undermine his manhood. He started swearing turned his back to us and told us we were not allowed our money back even though we explained to him that the bike was dangerous and could not handle two people. Erin started screaming
and I asked her to calm down while I tried to talk to this man in a civil manner. After minutes of calm talking and him continuously swearing at me and calling me every name under the sun, I hit the roof! I had never met anyone so rude in my life telling me to get f##$@ and all I cared about was getting a bike else were. I went ape shit as him well we both did, scared his poor little asian girlfriend (who was a tailor) who was giving us sympathetic looks (while she stitched up a hole in the ass-end of Erin’s pants!!) and looked to be on our side and it finished with his shop sign being thrown across the street by me !!!!!!!!! (He is lucky it wasn’t his motorbike). It felt good and he deserved it. Arrrrggggghhhhh he made us so mad. Anyway so we walked home without a bike and spent the day on the beach relaxing, more shopping and then started to get ready for the full moon party, but that is the next entry....................... It needs its own just for the photos!!!
Love your guts

Mongrel bastard.... when in tough times like this, just take a moment, breathe and think.... "what would tom do?" Chances are I would have done the same... or at least pinch him while no one was looking. Love u! Tom.
