So this is it… The party we have been waiting a whole year for. Did it live up to expectations? Yes and no. We had a great time, didn’t over do it too much, and lived to tell the story!
We headed out at about 10pm to the party, we had been shopping all day, came home to relax, get ready, and walk to the main street to catch a cab. The cool thing about cabs here is that they drive around the main road of the island, and you can hail them down from wherever, more like a bus service really, we have never waited for more than 5 minutes. So we went up to the road, took a taxi in and jumped out a Haad Rin beach, with about 10,000 other tourist! We got our first bucket on the road down to the beach, one bucket, about 10 straws, one bottle of red bull (which is a syrupy concentrate, which is illegal in Australia because of it’s potency - supposedly causes hallucinations- we weren’t that lucky) a can of coke, and a whole bottle of vodka (just one of those half bottles - no idea how many mls).
Tasted just like coke and raspberry slushy!
Along the beach itself there was stall after stall of bucket sellers, different music pumping out of each club along the sand (RnB, Trance, House, Pop, Drum and Bass), and firetwirlers all along the beach. The beach was already filthy covered in bottles and rubbish. Boozed already we started to dance to some RnB, great Dj, and then wached the fire twirling. We ran into a friend of Jenny's that she worked with at the Normanby (small world) and she was staying in some dodgy but cheap hostel right above the beach, and she let us use her toilet all night rather than have to use the dirty toilets on the beach. Thanks Bianca! She also told us that from their room they could see all the staff members from the bars on the beach refilling all the alcohol bottles with cheap alcohol during the day and re-sealing the stickers over the lid to make it look like it was the real deal. DODGY! When they confronted them about it, they said we could pay 50 Baht more for the genuine bottles! (pffft genuine).
As the night progressed, all the guys
were just standing at the waters edge and pissing in the water! People were vomiting in there, a few girls were squatting in there, and even people having sex right there where people were pissing and spewing!! Oh my god, how revolting. Then people would go and swim in the same water. I would not go in that water for weeks after a full moon party! Two people did a really good skinny dip though, and then they thought someone stole their clothes, so they went running through the croud completely naked! Poor bastards. After all that, no one had stolen their clothes, they had just come out of the water at a different place along the beach and thought that someone had, so then they came running back down the beach to get their clothes!
We spent alot of time at one bar with two crazy bar attendants who were off their heads and kept saying to us "excuse me.... where you come from? I know where, you come from my heart!" and "I love you more than I love my mum" while holding up a heart shaped straw. Hilarious. We were guaranteed to hear these comments every
time we walked past their stall.
So we partied on.. more buckets.. more dancing... more buckets... more dancing. About midway through the night people had already started to pass out, laying anywhere on the beach, and people started covering them with sand and building breasts on them. Ha! Imagine waking up on the beach covered in sand with new breasts. Ha!!! So before we headed home we decided to take photos of everyone that was passed out on the beach. Imortalise the memory!
So we had a great night, headed home to fall asleep, and spend our hangovers in the hammok on the beach outside our bungalow. Is there anything better than that?
By the time we next headed down to Haad Rin Beach, which was two days later, there was still tonnes of rubbish everywhere, it was revolting just how much litter was everywhere. Mind you, we didn't see one bin the whole night, so of course their would be litter problems.
So I guess the whole experience was a really good night in it's own special way, kinda like a night at the Victory! But as Jenny says.. It's all part of the
