We got a slightly later start today so the boys could get up early and watch the UCLA football game on the internet! After breakfast we hopped in two taxi's again and headed to the French Concession area to talk a walking tour. Along the way we walked through the former residence of both Chou En Lai and Sun Yat Sen, now museums. We then hopped on the subway back over to Pudong to meet Patti, Grace and Lucy at the Aquarium. (Of course, we had lunch first, which consisted of a "like it" size Cold Stone Creamery treat!!) Diana and I met Patti and the girls last March on our trip to Yangzhou. Patti is a journalist for the Financial Times and has lived here for about a year and a half, having lived in Maryland before that. Patti has two daughters adopted from China, Grace is from Yangzhou, the same town as Diana. The girls remembered each other and quickly were chatting away whille looking at so many Asian fish, shark, penquins etc!!
After the aquarium we decided we had to go up in the highest building in the world, the Shanghai Financial building. We took the elevator to the 100th floor and were able to stand on clear, glass blocks and look down on the cars and buildings below. Very cool and a little scary! You will have to see the photos of the bathroom with a view and the funky Japanese toilets!! We had a dinner reservation at an italian restaurant called Da Marco, so we jumped in cabs and met there for a nice pizza and past dinner before heading to our acrobat show. The show called ERA Intersection of Time, was a mixture of traditional Chinese acrobatics with a multi-media flare. We all really enjoyed the show and would highly suggest attending if you are here. Although pricey, it was worth it! We especially loved the ending where 8 motorcycles were racing together in a round ball. Words just can't describe it!
We took the subway back and said good bye to Patti and the girls and headed to the hotel.
We are catching up on emails, blog and Facebook before heading off to bed. We have an early day tomorrow as we venture off to Hangzhou about 2.5 hours away!
