The World Congress on the Prevention of Diabetes was fantastic. I really enjoyed a conference focused on prevention. My presentation on Friday went great as did the poster presentation on Saturday. We were able to enjoy some sightseeing Thursday morning before the conference and then again tonight. Thursday morning we met up with Kaye from Pittsburgh and toured the Royal Palace, climbed the tour and enjoyed the scenery of the town by having lunch on the outside terrace by the Elbe River. We toured another church before we got ready for the conference. Today we visited the old "Green Vault" where all of King Agustus the Strong's jewels and collections were stored. We took a two hour train trip to spend the day in Berlin. We walked over 20,000 steps according to our pedometer! We started the day at Scholss Charlotenburg and really enjoyed the grounds and buildings. After a quick lunch we headed to the Brandenburg Gate to begin a walking tour of the "Red Berlin." We enjoyed a 60 degree sunny day for our explorations. The city was crowded so we were not able to go inside everything, but we had a great overview. After a very long day we arrived in Dresden Tuesday morning at 8:30 am Luckily our hotel room was ready for us so we were able to check in and get settled. By 10 am we were walking around the city, enjoying the sunshine and trying to fight jet lag. The city was rebuilt after being bombed in WW2 was totally and they have kept the old style architecture in all of the remodeling Beyond The city is beautiful. We enjoyed a nice morning walk across the bridge to the "new town" for great views back to the "old town" and then had a great lunch at an outdoor cafe overlooking the Elbe River. We are back home and I am back speaking English! We got up very early on Saturday and hired a guide and driver. We really enjoyed hiking up the pyramids at Teotihuacan and learning a little history. I flew home sitting next to a man from Mexico and enjoyed practicing my Spanish! I am looking forward to continuing my Spanish study and attending another language school in the future!... read more

Hoy fui la clase final de la escuela de Espanol. Despues de las clases vamos en un viaje de Taxco. En Taxco vemos una catedral hermosa y una puebla blanca. Compramos mucha plata y bebimos Mascal cuando estamos comprandos muchas cosas. A la manana Vamos a Ir a la Ciudad de Mexoco, de el Bazar Sabado y Xochomilco por un excursion. Estoy cansado este noche porque tiene una fiesta despues de la escuela. Al fiesta tenemos comida y bebidas y tambien son los marriachies y bailamos. Hay una pinata por los chicos y todos tenemos opportunidad de jugar. Despues de la fiesta tenemos una clase de Salsa. Bailamos mucho y tenemos mucho calor. La maestra de ballar fui muy guapo y todas las chicas tenemos un tiempo bueno. Vamanamos a las mananitas por una bebida y bocadillos. El hotel y restaurante son muy bonitos. Buenos Noches, Tenimos un dia magnifica! Antes de la escuela, mi amiga Debbie y yo fui al Starbucks para desayuno. Caminamos 15 minutos y tomamos cafe, te y postre. Entonces caminamos a la escuela. En la manana practicamos los verbos, los ajectivos y possesivos. Escribio muchas notas y espero que recordar las palabras y cuando usar. Hoy la clase fui por un viaje do Xochicalco, las ruinas de los Mayans de 700 -900 AD. Son muy impresivo y interesante. Nuestra guia, Arturo, eres muy simpatico y muy intelegente. Aprendimos muchas cosas importante del hisoria de Mexico y Xochicalco. Subimos muchas escalaras para ver una vista magnifica de las monanas y las ruinas. Hoy trabajamos mucho en la escuela. Practicamos los verbos de subjunctivo, preterito y imperfecto. Tambien estudiamos oraciones de presente, en el pasado, con el positivo y el negativo y el imperitivo. Mi cabeza tenga dolor despues de las clases en la manana. En la tarde nosotros hablamos de muchas cosas para practicar conversation. Yo hable de la diabetes mucho. Despues de las classes vamos al Museo Robert Brady para ver su casa con antiquidades de sus viajes. Entonces vamos al Jardin Borba, pero no hay flores en el Jardin. Es muy viejo y tiene ruinas. Debbie uno yo vamos a La India Bonita restaurante para comer comida con mis amigos de la ciudad de Mexico. Courtney, Abrahm y su nina Rio viajan de Mexico para visitarnos. Tengo mi primera dia en la escuela hoy. You estoy en el groupo "intermediado." Cuando llegar en la escuela tomamos en groupos de cuartro o cinco personas por la manana para gramatica. Despues del almuerzo muovamos a una groupa mas largo, con siete personas para conversation de la diabetes. La escuela es muy bonita con muchas salas y una piscina. Despues de las clases muchas personas caminan al centro. Tomamos una viaje de camino con el groupo y una profesora de la escucela. Tenemos la cena en una restaurante, La Casa Hidalgo.
