Day 8 - Kerrville-TX to Van Horn TX

Another day of driving. The wind was very strong and it slowed us down a bit. After Kerrville the mountains started showing up and we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Long farms, a house every 4 or 5 acres, lots of ruins. Lots of up and down. The speed limit is 80 mph and we were going 55 mph average.Terry's phone doesn't have any signal.. (maybe he will have some signal when we get to El Paso tomorrow morning). So, just to be in the safe side, we stopped our trip a little earlier than the other days, just in case if something happens to the car we will be in the middle of nowhere on day light ( by the way, my phone and internet have perfect signal!).

You know when you are true latino when after few days eating junk, peanut butter and jelly, chicken and meat the only thing you want to eat is rice and beans (real food for me). Mexican rice and beans are not like brazilian's but definitely helped us to cure our need for homemade food.


Outro dia na estrada. O vento estava muito forte e isso fez com que dirigissimos mais devagar. Depois de Kerrville as montanhas comecaram a aparecer e nos estavamos no meio do nada. Fazendas grandes, uma casa a cada 4 ou 5 milhas e ruinas. Muito sobe e desce. O limite de velocidade era 80 milhas por hora, mas estavamos dirigindo em media 55 milhas por hora. O celular nao tem sinal por aqui e nao funcionou o dia inteiro....(talvez funcionara amanha de manha quando chegarmos em El Paso-TX). Entao, so para evitar problemas, resolvemos nao dirigir a noite e paramos mais cedo do que os outros dias. Nunca se sabe quando algo pode acontecer com o carro e vc esta no meio do nada ... (ah, meu celular e minha internet esravam funcionando e tinham bom sinal).

Vc so percebe que eh uma latino puro quando depois de varios dias so comendo porcaria, sanduiches, carnes somente, eh quando o esta precisa comer comida de verdade, isto eh, arroz e feijao. Comemos arroz e feijao mexicanos, o que nao eh o mesmo que brasileiro, mas matou a nossa vontade de uma comidinha caseira.

Just passsng by to say hi! Rice and beans....that's really something to be missed! Love your stories! Yesterday I went to movies with mom and Daniela, I got free tickets. We watched the new movie with Maryl Streep and Alec Baldiwn. Veryyyyyyyyyyyy gooooooooooooooood! Tonight Daniela is inviting everybody to a Christmas Happy Hour. I will be there but for sure we will miss you! Mom is leaving next week, that's going to be sad! Well, keep posting news about your trip, I still have to show them to the kids. Love you all!
