What a fun day! After leaving the ghostly city of Lordsburg we drove a little bit 'till kartchner Caverns State Park (http://azstateparks.com/Parks/KACA/) and we went to see inside the caverns, stalactites, stalagmites, soda straw etc etc... very nice. There were 3 caves inside the cavern and each one has different shapes and colors. Very warm and humid. All those cones were amazing. The kids loved it. The mountains are just beautiful. After quick lunch, we drove off to I-10 and that was very scary. The wind was really strong and there was a big dust storm ahead of us. We heard in the radio that some highways were closed because of the storm and accidents with 4 fatalities. Well, Terry wasn't comfortable at all and we decided to get a side road which took us to ... read more

Nice driving today! Lots of mountains and great views. Once again we were in the middle of nowhere but beautiful. After crossing El Paso it was very difficult to find a radio station only in english. Not that it really matters, but just like in portuguese and english some types of music are just too much for Terry's and mine taste. The kids are doing great for the amount of driving they are enduring, but at night, they just want to play, jump, be loud and all the stuff they are supposed to be doing during the day but they can't. We can't complain. They like the trip so far. Lucas is usually busy with his electronics and is enjoying the trip as well. The car is doing great, so we decided not to push it ... read more

Another day of driving. The wind was very strong and it slowed us down a bit. After Kerrville the mountains started showing up and we were pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Long farms, a house every 4 or 5 acres, lots of ruins. Lots of up and down. The speed limit is 80 mph and we were going 55 mph average.Terry's phone doesn't have any signal.. (maybe he will have some signal when we get to El Paso tomorrow morning). So, just to be in the safe side, we stopped our trip a little earlier than the other days, just in case if something happens to the car we will be in the middle of nowhere on day light ( by the way, my phone and internet have perfect signal!). You know when you ... read more

Last night, after a visit to Tire Kingdom, we drove a little more 'till Crowley City (150 miles west from New Orleans)... we finally woke up a little early this time and drove, drove, drove, drove and drove a little more! That is all we did all day long, drive! We got to see Texa's neck of the woods plus the arms and legs ... farm and more farm... I used to think that I had a redneck backyard, but Texas country site has the whole package, you can't bit that!... front, sides, backyard full of junk. We stopped at Stephen Austin State Park for a quick Launch/dinner time. We forgot that today is the last saturday before Xmas and the got the wrong route... Houston was unbearable! Traffic all over the place... we took forever ... read more

Yestarday night we drove through a big storm. Lots of rain and wind. Today once again we woke up late and we went for a walk in the French Quarter of New Orleans. We met cousin Billy at the Superdome's truck parking lot and we talked about our route through Texas. We saw lots of damaged buildings, abandoned houses and ugly areas. But also, we saw a lot of fun stuff. The streets of the french quarter are full of music and art. Very neat houses and architecture. We wished we could have stayed longer. +/- 30 miles out of New Orleans at a very busy area of I-10 the left back tire blew out. Oh goodness!!!! Call the police. Call the AAA. The police came to help Terry. All done! Call AAA and cancel the ... read more

We were really tired. We took a while to leave the hotel room. When we finally left, we went to the National museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola. Amazing museum... lots of aircarfts from all the wars that the US has been in. As a guide told me, they receive damaged aircrafts or found in the ocean or found in some wierd place from wars as early as world war I, Vietnan or Korea, even from Iraque on a daily basis. But they don't keep them. They restore them and send them to museums all over the world. We didn't really stop to see the beach area, but from my window it looked gorgeous. After the museum Terry tried to fix some stuff on the trailer and that took forever but we drove a little bit ... read more

We woke up with the neighbor on the window... She made a delicious breakfast for us and fed my kids... thank you neighbor! We tided up all the loosy ends in the house and we went to the other Fennell's house to do some work in the trailer and say good bye once again. After couple hours, we were finally good to go. Lots of kisses and hugs, and more kisses and hugs and lots of tears and so long Jacksonville Beach. Our final destination for today is Pensacola-FL. We arrived in Pensacola late night and we slept in some cheap hotel. Nos acordamos com a vizinha na janela... Ela preparou um cafe da manha delicioso pra gente e alimentou meus filhos... Obrigada vizinha! Fizemos mais uma busca na casa pra ver se estava tudo em ... read more

Julia's Birthday! We sang Happy Birthday to Julia with Tio Matt and kids in the morning and we kept on working. More packing, more cleanning, more exhaustion, more good byes for the third time to the same people, more crying... Wanda came to help again and the neighbor took care of my kids and us once again. Now everything is in the trailer! Now we're going, right? NO. After connecting the trailer on the car, we realized the trailer was too heavy on the tip making the car extremely low. Well, let's take EVERYTHING out of the trailer and rearrange it. Hurray, tio Matt came to help us and we could finished it faster. At 2 am we were done! Maybe tomorrow we're leaving... Aniversario da Julia. Cantamos parabens pra Julia com tio Matt e as ... read more
