Elections - Your vote counts!
I arrived in La Paz on the weekend of the elections to find out that it was a no alcohol weekend - as La Paz as a reputation as a party town this meant that there were alot of disappointed people. On Sunday, the day of the election, the city was dead - a complete contrast to normal when the streets are filled with traffic and market stalls. It was nice to wonder round the city whilst it was quiet and then in the evening we went to Plaza de Murrillo where the celebrations of the reelection of Evo Morales were going on. There were lots of flags being waved and a couple of bands played whilst we waited for Morales speech. There was a great atmosphere.

I spent a couple of days visiting the museums and wandering round the markets, including the witches market were there were llama fetuses being sold! Unfortunately I had my bag stolen sooo stupid! I've lost my camera (and some of my pictures!) but not much else as I didn't have my cards or passport in it. I was a restaurant with my friend Ruth and we were the only ones in it, my

bag was under the table but I didn't see anyone come near us apart from the waiter - magic!

After a few davs in the city I booked myself on a trip to cycle the "Death road" - the steep and bumpy La Paz-to-Coroico road which descends almost 3,600 meters through the sub-tropical Yungas. We got driven to the start of the ride which to begin with was on a nice paved road and then we hit the death road. It is quite gravelly and narrow with huge drops to one side and it winds its ways beneath waterfalls and rocky overhangs. It was really good fun speeding down the road and we stopped plenty of times to take in the views and pose for photos.

Glad you didn't get too much stolen- I take it you have a new camera? That was like when that woman stole my phone in the Banana Leaf- they are very sneaky and are so good at it that you almost feel admirable of their skills!!! LOL! Take care and continue having fun! XX
