This week our regular itinerary is switched around a bit. Usually when we’re in Acapulco, we’re there from noon until 1am. With this itinerary, it’s 6am-5pm. The regular itinerary is perfect for crew like me who work late - I can sleep in, then have a full afternoon and early evening out before having to come back to work. So today, it meant getting up early in order to get a good chunk of a day outside.

A group of us met in the morning and took a taxi to a hotel/resort called Villa Vera. They allow the public to come and swim in their pool, drink from their pool side bar and eat in their restaurant. So that’s just what we did. The hotel’s grounds are beautiful. It’s set up on the hill with views down to the main strip and out to the water. There are very few people there which means it’s nice and quiet and peaceful.

I stretched out on a lounge chair and settled into my book. (I’m flying through books these days!) But I didn’t last long because the sun was intensely hot. I felt like I was melting! It was intense but for me much more welcome than how cool it seems to be whenever we’re in San Diego . . .

The hotel’s main pool has a small waterfall flowing from it down into another small pool. That’s where we laid out. In the second small pool, there were seats lining around the edges. This was perfect for me! I was able to curl up in the water on one of the seats but keep on reading. I spent most of the day moving back and forth between my seat in the water and my lounge chair out in the sun.

I ordered sushi and a daiquiri for lunch and ate/drank sitting on the stone wall running along the edge of the hill, looking out towards the water. It was so pretty. It was pretty easy to imagine living a rich life where that sort of a setting could be your home!

In short, Villa Vera was a nice little spot of paradise for us for the day. I imagine I’ll be headed back there again soon . . .
