Edit Blog Post

This last week we have had terrible weather. The tropical storm "Ida" has been working it's way through the Caribbean and right along the path where we regularly sail. The ships do their best to avoid the storms, most of our ships based out of Florida have detoured to avoid this end of the Caribbean entirely. But being out of Galveston, there's not really anywhere else to go. So we've been sailing on as usual. And it has been rough sailing! It's been a long time since I've been on a ship this rocky and really, it's not fun. Guests are sick all the time (and everywhere) and even when we finally do reach land, it tends to be grey and rainy and windy and generally dreary. Thus the lack of blogs about the last couple weeks.

I did go out in Progreso last week, just so I've actually gone out in that port. I'd looked forward to a day at the beach, but it was pretty miserable. I just finished my Christmas shopping instead.

On the ship, I've been continuing doing training with Brian. It's nice having somebody else in the club. It's still very quiet in terms of the number of teens onboard, so company is excellent. Oh, and for something exciting with work, we've gotten the new video game DJ Hero (like Guitar Hero, but you have a DJ mixer to mix songs) and I am hooked! I'm determined to clear the game before I leave the ship in the next two days! Oh yes, that really is my job (when it's quiet anyway!).

Today we were in Cozumel again and it was my last day there - possibly ever. In a couple more days I transfer to a ship on the West Coast and it's time for all new ports for me, and who knows what I'll be doing come next year. So it was important for me to have a great last day in Cozumel. So I took Brian and Chris to the place where I have some of my fondest and craziest memories from Cozumel - Park Royal. Park Royal is an all-inclusive resort that sells day passes. My first contract we used to go there almost every week for awhile, until a little too much trouble was caused after a big day out there. Since then, I've had so many dates set up with friends to go back, but they've all fallen through. Not today! Today we were back!

It would have been better had the weather been more cooperative. We only got about 10 minutes of sunshine all day. But at least it wasn't raining.

We swam in the pool, ate a big buffet lunch, drank bunches of daiquiris and laid on lounge chairs on the pier over the water. It's nice to feel like we're the ones on vacation, even though it only lasts a few hours.

And now it's back to the ship for a couple more days, then it'll be transfer time again . . .
