9-11-09 Well off to Geraldton today with a list a mile long. First was the Info centre to find out where things are & what to see. We then went to the Laundromat & had a coffee while we waited. We then went & had the stone chip in the windscreen fixed , only $65 at Novus , Last time it was $115 at Windscreen O’Brien’s, what a difference. Den then dropped me off to do the groceries & he went & booked the car in to get air bags fitted to the springs - the arse end of the car is sagging. ( I asked Den if he could book me in too & get my bum lifted, maybe I need air bags) He then found a place where he could get the car serviced , so by this time it was time to pick me up. We headed back & by the time we hung out the washing & unpacked the groceries, it was time to ring a few people. We have to climb 60 steps to get reception on the lookout for the phone. We usually take a drink as it is thirsty work. We went back &
had tea & watched TV .
10-11-09 Off to town again, the car is booked in for 10.30 for the air bags, so Den dropped me off at the shopping centre, (bad idea) I bought a few tops & a new pair of swimmers (first time I have worn out a pair in my life) . I had my hair cut $28 which was not too bad, I thought. Then waited outside for Den to pick me up. The car is at least 2 inches higher & can be pumped up more. We headed for home, we had left the girls in the van & a couple of girls next door took them for a walk for us. We got home & we both had a rest & then climbed the lookout again to make a few calls. We had fish & vegs for tea, which wa very nice.
11-11-09 Happy Birthday Cait !!!!Well this is getting boring, Den headed off to town for an 8am appointment for the car to get serviced & Den had a heap of messages to run. I stayed home & cleaned the van as we are leaving tomorrow to go to Greenough
, 10km south of Geraldton, so we figure we can sight see the area & its not far to see the sights of Geraldton. I took the girls for a long swim & Jessie is so funny I think she would stay in that water for ages. I had to dry them off & brush them, den got home pleased with the service & had done most of his shopping list. I climbed the 60 stairs again to send Cait a B’day wish, while Den did a bit of packing up. We had our tea & watched TV.
12-11-09 Got to Greenough early, & booked into Greenough River Caravan Park, $25 a night , it is near the River as well as the Beach. We booked in for 3 nights. We got settled & had lunch & did some washing. We decided to go & see the sights of Greenough. We went & saw the Greenough River, The Pioneer Museum, The Hampton arms Inn, The Alinta Wind Farm, which is the 2nd largest in Australia, there is 54 Wind Turbines. We then went to a little town called Walkaway on our way to Ellendale Pool. You can camp here
for $10 a night, no water or power but a nice spot. We stopped at the Greenough Historic Settlement & had a look around. On the way back to the park we took photo’s of the Leaning Trees , as they are bent over from the strong winds. We came back & took the girls for a long walk over to the beach & I think we nearly killed them. We had a drink with the people over from us & then had tea.
13-11-09 We went into Geraldton today & drove around all the Beaches, The fishing port where Lobster season has just started & the boats are laden with Lobster Traps. From there we went around the foreshores & then up to the HMAS Sydney II Memorial, It was very interesting. Geraldton is full of old buildings & is a nice town. We did a little shopping & then dropped in at a pub on the way back & had a few drinks & shared a Fisherman’s Basket. We got back & took the girls for a walk & then I had a Nanna nap. We had another Happy Hour with the neighbours & then had tea.
Went to bed early & then up half the night.
14-11-09 Feeling a bit ordinary today, but we went into town to stock up on some meat, groceries & beer & had a cuppa chino at the coffee shop. We got gas from W/worths, only 69 cents with our 4cent discount. Nice to be paying “normal costs”, petrol was $1.26 . We got back & unpacked the meat & put everything away, had lunch & I had a lay down. I got up then worked on the diary , photo’s & blog. Den & Jessie sat outside together & Den read his caravan mag. We are going to Jurien Bay tomorrow, so Den packed up what he could & we will be off again tomorrow. We had a casserole for tea, & watched a movie & went to bed.
