5-9-09 Tried to sleep in, another late night, but up & at it, another hot day, I sorted through the photos of the Bungle Bungles , only 200, so took a while . We were going to go to El Questro but I was too tired & did not get up early enough, so we will go tomorrow. No probs, we don’t have a set programme. Den was talking to our neighbour & he said they were going to go out to a “secret swimming hole & waterfall” that the locals know about & don’t advertise. Den went up to the office & asked about it & the lady smiled & said I will have to kill you if you tell anyone, so Mum’s the word. We got directions & had to go 30 km’s out of town, then on a dirt road 4 wheel drive, & then on a track & through a small creek, but it was worth it. There was this amazing small water pool & water fall amongst palms & greenery - no wonder the locals keep it a secret. We had a swim & the dogs enjoyed swimming around, we talked to the locals that came
& went. We had packed our lunch & wine & beer & sat on the bank & relaxed. We both went for another swim & the girls too. We made our way back into the heat, it must have been at least 10 deg cooler at the water hole. We got back to a hot van 38 deg & put the air on & relaxed under the awning till the van cooled down, we had meat & vegs for tea & thoroughly enjoyed it. Another early night & as you can tell I am up again & cant sleep so have published the blog & caught up on my diary. Will check the emails next.
6-9-09 HAPPY FATHERS DAY EVERYONE !!!!!! Off today to go to El Questro, we packed a picnic lunch & asked a couple down the road to check on the girls as we left them in the van with the air con on & started on our way. It was 58km’s to the Gibb River Rd, we turned off to a dirt road & very corrugated , this is a back road to Derby & all dirt, 685 km’s of it, caravans not suggested to
travel on it & I can say no way , I reckon our van would have no screws , doors or lights left in it. You would have to have a small very well built off road caravan or trailer tent to make it. We went about 27 km’s & turned off to go to El Questro Resort , about another 20 km’s of dirt road & river crossings. The El Questro Resort is a very nice camp & BBQ area, with a bar & restaurant, we bought our Park Permit $17 & headed back along the dirt road to Zebedee Springs as we only had till 12 noon to enjoy it as after that it is reserved for tourist buses & guests of El Questro . The hot springs were a little oasis of pockets of water trickling over rocks & it was pretty full, but very nice. We had a soak in the pool for about half an hour & then decided to go to Emma Gorge, we got there at 12.15 & decided to do the walk before lunch. It was a 2 hour walk & 3.5 km’s. It was very hot 39 deg so we took
our water & there were two pools at the top so we were looking forward to having a swim in them. Well what a walk , over boulders, creek beds, rocks & all the while getting hotter. We made it to the lower pool & I did not know if I was going to make it to the next one,, my feet were hurting & I was feeling off with the heat. But I did not get all that way & not make it. It was amazing, there was this huge water hole surrounded by 65 mt sheer cliffs with a droplet waterfall. On the right hand side thermal water trickles into the waterhole. We had a swim & the water was pretty cold , but warmer on the right hand side. We floated in the pool for half an hour & decided to head back to the car & have our picnic lunch. Putting my shoes on I kicked my toe & it was not a pleasant walk back. Once at the car we were ready for another swim but no way were we walking back up there. I was so hungry, we both tucked into our lunch there
& then & did not worry about the picnic spot. It was 3 pm by this time & we thought that we should get back to the dogs. Emma Gorge has a resort there that you can stay at, it looked very nice. On the way back we were blown away as the sun was shining on the ranges & the colour of the rocks were just spectacular, there are many more gorges to see. Next time back, we will explore a bit more. We arrived back at the van & the girls were pleased to see us & they had been very good the couple said. Both the kids rang for Fathers day which was nice & then I tried to ring Dad but the phone was busy, so we left him a message. We prepared tea & went up to the bar for our Happy Hour drink & then back to the van for tea. After dinner I tried to stay awake, but ended up asleep at 8pm & you guessed it I was awake again at 1am, so fiddled on the computer till 4 am & tossed & turned till 6.30, I am going to go mad.
( I know that wont be hard, I am already half way there )
7-9-09 Happy Birthday Merry, have a drink for us too. Mike & rob fly in from seeing Brett & Kara this avo & they are all having dinner at the club for Merry’s Birthday & Fathers Day. Dad & Ivy will be there & Jim, Dean & Jenny ( Robs Sister ). Hope they have a great time. Mike & Rob fly back to Canada tomorrow, so it will be a while before we see them again. We washed, cleaned the van & Den dropped me off to do the groceries while he went & washed our filthy car at the car wash. He picked me up when he was finished & went to the P.O. to see if the parcel from Nicky had arrived & it hadn’t, they said it would take 7-10 working days , (its only been 5) to get it, so we paid to have it redirected to Broome as we are leaving tomorrow. Home & put away the food & then I took off the washing & Den cleaned the inside or the car. Merry rang & thanked us for
her present & we had a chin wag. At 4pm I booked us into Tarangau Caravan Park at Cable Beach Broome, could not get in till the 13-9-09 so will take our time going through Halls Creek & Fitzroy Crossing, Dens booked in to the Dr’s there on the 14-9-09, then we leave on the 21-9-09 to Derby & leaving there on the 25-9-09 . We will to do our Horizontal Waterfall trip on the 22-9-09 & have a look around Derby Then head back to Broome for a few days. We would love to see the “Stairway to the Moon” at Broome but its happens on the 5,6 & 7th Oct , so don’t know if we can stay that long. Rang Dad for a belated Fathers Day & then prepared tea & headed up to the bar for our last Happy Hour at Lakeside. We cooked tea & then we rang Mike & Rob & talked to everyone having tea by speaker phone , it was 7 pm here & 9pm in Wollongong , hope they have a good trip home tomorrow. Brett is doing really well & is behaving himself. Well off to bed as we have
a long trip tomorrow to Halls Creek. Awake at 12 am , not happy, this is why I am writing this blog. We may be out of phone range for a while till we get to Broome, we will see.

Amazing!
Hi SFA, SFU and SFDogs. Wow! Your last couple blogs are amazing again! Some great spots you guys are seeing! Some of those hot springs and lakes etc look just unreal. So happy that you guys are doing this! Only wish we were with you. I still think I can put Brett in the back of the caravan now with his leg, open the curtains and he can watch the scenery all the way to Broome! Lots of love, Mofos 1 and 2. xoxo.
