3-9-09 Up early & packed up to go to Lakeside Resort , around the corner. The girls got all excited, off again, a big car ride , only to go 10 minutes around the corner, wow mum are you having us on. Anyway we got settled & the park is so much better for us, we are right on the water & we have grass under our feet, we can even put the kayak in the Lake. The amenities are nice & there is a restaurant & bar as well we can meander up to if we want. We let the girls go for a swim, we put their long leads on & they must have swam for an hour, the water has a few weeds & water lily’s in it but they don’t care, Annie tries to bring the leaves back like a stick so it kept her busy. It was hot again so the girls got washed off under the hose ( not happy Jan ) & we sat outside to dry off & have our lunch. We then got ready to go on our Bungle Bungle flight with Alligator Air who were picking us up at 2pm. We
left the girls in the air con as it was already 38 deg. Arriving at the airport we were given a brief as to which way we were flying & how long it would take, there were only 3 of us on the flight plus our pilot Haig, who was very nice. We went up in a small Cessna plane, with no air con , it was pretty hot taking off & I laughed Haig held the window open with his arm till we were in the air to make it cooler ( some air con eh ). Once airborne we got fresh air through the vents & it was pretty good. Well the scenery was spectacular, we flew over the irrigation crops of Kununurra, the Ord River, Lake Argyle & the Dam . Lake Argyle is 72 miles long & is the biggest lake in Australia & is classified as an inland sea, & has approx 25,000 fresh water crocs in it, (after we went Kayaking in it ) we never saw any though , it is amazing from the air. We then flew over Smoke Creek, the old Bow River Diamond Mine, Lissadell & Texas Downs Cattle Stations,
Bow River, The Osmond Ranges & then over the Bungle Bungles & Piccaninny Gorge . They were amazing , the colour, formations & stripes in the rocks had us blown away, it was a shame though , as we were flying over them a few clouds rolled in & the pictures were not as colourful as they should have been, never mind. Haig banked the plane & flew us low over the Gorge to get a good look, unreal. We then flew back over the Argyle Diamond Mine & really low over Lake Argyle, it was late in the afternoon & the photos were magic. The plane ride was pretty good & we only had a few rough spots, but well worth the money 2 hours & 15 mins, we landed safely & were driven back to the caravan park. We dropped into the bar & had a few wines, then went back to the van , had tea & I fell asleep as I am still not sleeping well. Den rang Brett & Kara to see how they were after their flight home ( Emerites 1st class mind you Kara said they have been spoilt & wishes they were
rich as it’s the only way to fly ). They were asleep but Mike & Rob said Brett’s leg was a bit sore , but pretty good considering the long flight. I woke up again at 1.30 am till 4 am , this is doing my head in . Well will have to have a nana nap tomorrow eh !!!!
4-9-09 We went in to Kununurra to check the mail, I had my hair cut, got a few groceries & came back, had some lunch & decided to put the kayak in & see if the girls would like to try it. We did not put the peddles in so we had more room & I put the girls on a short leash so they would not jump in. Well talk about funny , Jessie got excited with the birds & fell in & I just swooped my hand under her & hoisted her back in the boat, I was laughing, She sat down & behaved herself then, I think it frightened her. Annie was all excited & I thought she would be the one to jump or fall in because she loves the water so much, but we
managed to keep her in. Paddling is much harder than peddling, my arms were sore after 5 mins & Den was nearly tearing his hair out ( if it was long enough ) we seemed to be nearly going round in circles as I could not get into the same rhythm as him & we kept going to the left all the time. Oh well , we had a good time & even if we did paddle twice as far as we actually went, the girls were pretty good for their first time out in the kayak. We let the girls have a swim & then they got hosed off again, at least they were cool, we sat under the awning watching the Lake , Den decided to have a swim in the pool & I had a shower & got ready & we went up to the bar for another happy hour & as usual got talking with a nice young couple that had been at the bar since 12 noon & had not even set up the tent, I don’t know if they slept on the ground or what. We left them & came home for tea. I
am up again at 11.30 pm I think I need some sleeping pills, Ha! Ha!
