The Loire Valley, France

So after 2 weeks of being exceedingly nervous (which I think is out of character for me), 2 days of being excited, and 1 night of bursting into tears, we're off on the ferry to Borlougne after the usual hiccups - couldn't find the TomTom, couldn't find the tickets, didn't blow dry my hair etc. etc. But on a positive note we made it down to Dover about 2 hours before departure - a surprise I know! A quick one hour ferry ride (which made me feel very sea sick) we were dropped off at our European point of departure. From there it was a 5 hour drive to the Loire Valley (that's pronounce Loo-wah for all you non-Frenchies) and a fervent search for a campsite to stay at. At 10pm we finally find one near Blois (Bloo-wah) and after ten minutes of conversing with an old French lady who speaks no English and we speak no French (I lie - bonjour!) we find ourselves settled down for the night. The next morning is surreal - no work, no responsibility, what's a couple to do when the world is their oyster? Sleep in til 12 of course! Then off to see the Chateaux Chambord which was beautiful on the outside but a tad boring on the inside even 'for someone interested in that stuff' as Bretto would say. But after 2 weeks of running around and planning we're both exhausted and can't appreciate anything fully so go 'home' to rest. It's a hard life! We both swear the next day will be dedicated to sightseeing - ha! We make it to the Chateaux Cheverney (after waking up at 11) which is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds and the interior is amazing 'even for someone who's not interested in that stuff' as Bretto would say. All in all (through our vast 2 days worth of experience), the Loire Valley is a bit of a confusion. Towns seem virtually deserted, shops are never open (or maybe we're up too early??) and the countryside is 'nice' or 'agricultural with an array of excellent harvesting machinery' as Bretto would say. And after 2 nights we're off in search of the 'real deal'... Au revoir!
