Surf School!

Days 88-89

We were woken early doors for breakfast and then jumped aboard the mini bus looking for a beach with good waves. We checked out a couple but the waves were really messy so we ended up at a gorgeous deserted beach called Lighthouse Bay. We had to carry our 9 ft surf boards about half a mile to the beach which was not fun especially when Carly and her new friend got lost and added loads more distance onto the journey!! We were just about standing up on the board by lunchtime but the waves were really ferocious and we got dumped loads of times and really knocked about (we have the bruises to prove it!!!). We had a spot of lunch and then went back into the water after learning some more tricks and stuff about the ocean which was really interesting. We left the beach shattered and battered about 5 and headed back to camp. We jumped in the swimming pool and then had a shower and a gorgeous BBQ for dinner. We all sat around drinking after dinner and watched a slide show of us surfing - or at least attempting to - which was pretty funny.

Another early one the next day. Carly was in a very bad way and it took her half an hour to put her top on as she'd pulled every muscle in her body!! We headed to a beach called Seal Rocks, another secluded and quiet beach (thankfully) and paddeled out back to catch some bigger waves. We weren't too successful at this as we hadn't really mastered standing up yet and we were sore and tired from the day before. After getting more and more frustrated at our rubbishness we had lunch and headed back to camp. We were driven back to Sydney and grabbed a bargainous pizza from Dominos for tea.

Glutons for punishment, we'll be trying again soon. We'll make surfers of ourselves yet!!
