Hanging ten in Byron Bay

Byron in a nutshell: partied all night, slept on the beach all day. Met up with Cosi (girl who I met on Fraser Island) and we stayed at a guy's house who rented out his rooms to travellers. This made a refreshing change to staying at a hostel, and meant that all my unwashed clothes could be unpacked and spread about my bed, so that made me feel right at home.

Byron has a real mix of people from geriatric hippies (a large proportion of the town!) to seemingly 12 year old (but in reality 18) Oz girls and boys getting drunk; so me and Cosi fitted right in!! We mainly caught some serious rays at the beach during the day, or practised our surfing skills, as we are both planning on entering the next World Championships based on our recent form (Andrea, what do you reckon, Watergate in August again? It was a little warmer here than in Cornwell!!). Then we had the tough task of having a few VBs and mixing it up with the locals in the evening. Actually, we never met any real locals (apart from Mark, who we stayed with); everyone we met was from Melbourne for some bizarre reason. The earliest we went to bed was 3 am (I think?!) and the latest was 6 am!! Drinking games (in particular "I have never") have a lot to answer for...

I have now come to Sydney for a rest...before meeting Orla on Friday, when I am sure we will be mixing it up some more!

Wow! V impressed with your surfing skills Liz! Should have know you'd be a natural. And I'm glad you got some tips on how to handle your blade from the annoying girl in the canoe. Well Lizzie bizzie. i knew all that wriggling would come into use at some point. i take it that's what you have to do to stay on a surf board!!! You look too damn gorgeous for my liking tanned and chilled. impressed by the vodka and cranberry still keeping some level of class! hope you have been through the repertoire of games and that bras are not being worn as ear muffs but it sounds far too warm for that! loving your news and looking forward to hearing what you and orls get up to. give her my regards.. stay safe Kes XXX
