Arriving in Rio!

Hi all,

I arrived in Rio last night after an 11 hour flight. The flight was pretty good, just watched some films and slept in my 3 seats (cushty!). When I got off the plane it was like a heatwave hit me - it is so humid here.

I must look so much like a tourist - the airport taxi companies were all over me like a rash. Got to Ipanema in about half an hour. The taxi ride was interesting - it is so odd travelling through the city with all the pretty lights and suddenly seeing big black mountains looming over you. I am staying with my friends cousin who is a government lawyer in the ¨nice¨ part of town. Havent seen much of it, except a posh shop down the road called ¨Twiggy¨after the British model.

So not much to report yet, David and I are currently looking at towns around Rio to visit and routes through to Sao Paulo.

Off to buy some cheap flip flops. Laters.
