hiya everyone, quick update. I'm now on day 7 of my 40 day Intrepid Tour and its amazing with some lovely people. It's really nice as we usually all stick together for most things - which does mean that when going out for a meal in the evening it cant take quite some time to get served (the longest so far being about 2 hours!!! ouch - thats after the order being taken). Well since we last spoke let me think we visited (briefly but will return fo longer) Pnom Penh, Kampong Cham and a lovely homestay with a village in Chamok (think thats correct) I've eaten spider legs, cricket and held a huge snake. we've visited a floating village which consisted of loads of boats all moored closely to each other on which people lived, including markets, mechanics, a crocodile farm and fishery! They had a cambodian and vetnam village both on the same lake (Tonle Sap) the largest lake in South East Asia apparently! The two villages kept very separate because of the huge history both countries have. Travelled by public bus - which was surprisingly comfortable. We spent the night sleeping at a homestay right out in the sticks which was amazing - hopefully the photos will load onto facebook - having real troubles on that front, so fingers crossed. We took a cycling trip around Kampong Cham which was quite amusing trying to weave inbetween all the locals - people dont really seem to stop for one another you just go round, but once you get the hang of it..... It was lovely cycling along admist calls from locals of hello and children running out to 'high 5'you as you cycle past. The Khmer people are such a friendly smiling lot. The spectacles that I had brought along with me were dispersed at the homestay to the locals who were so grateful it was really touching, suddenly some of them could see much clearer and made a point of showing me - quite touching. Today we have had a lovely relaxing day at the beach with a snorkeling trip which most of us decided to go on, out in about an hour to eat together - probably on the beach with a couple of cocktails - making you jealous yet 😊 Tomorrow completely at leisure which will be lovely so we'll prob have a late one tonight. Can't believe it's only been a week and yet so much has been fitted in, chat soon, hopefully.x
