Night

Shibuya is an amazing part of town. The moment i get out of the station I am in absolutle love! - The place is feckin' huge!...The shops are huge, the streets are huge, the crossings are huge and the buildings are huge. It is everything i imagined Tokyo would be.

I potter around for a while, i buy some donuts, look in the shops, buy a few bits for friends (Sandy I got you some amazing socks girl!), take in the sights and just generally killing time until i have to meet Tomoka @ 10pm for the Acid Techno party at Amrax Club.

Amrax

After yet another hour of getting lost around the worlds biggest train station (or at least the biggest i have been) I manage to meet Tomoka and head off to Amrax. The club itself is really cool and I'm reminded a little of the main room in The Mass - but only a little. The club consists of 2 rooms, 1 lounge/chillout area & the main room where the Acid Techno will be. The music has not started yet so i check out the venue before heading to the bar.

The main room is dark & dingy, nowhere to sit down, big speakers line the back wall & the DJ's/Artists are situated at the front. The lounge room is bright & airy, complete with comfy sofas, red lighting, the bar & Japanese style walls. The drinks are expensive, i check my wallet & it looks like i can only afford about 4/5 drinks all night..hahaha - Typical Tokyo rinsing me out. I decide to get a Mojito as they're only 100yen more expensive than a beer & the beers are tiny. If i'm going to manage to get pissed it will only be on cocktails and/or shots. It is not long before i start to relax and get chatting with some of Tomoka's friends whom i have been introduced to.

Tomoka is pretty busy so i get talking to DDR, the only other English dude there. I immediately get on with DDR being the London-squat Acid Techno veteran that he is. We hit it off & get talking about the rave scene & mentalness of Japan.

A few mojitos, tequillas & an acid (that failed on me!) later and i'm well buzzin. I actually manage to get pissed as lots of people are really friendly and keep buying me drinks. It quickly comes around to the time of the night when i must check out some music. DJ Mayuri (Tomokas friend) who is a really well-known techno lady in Japan comes on the dex. She plays a nice blend of pounding acid techno with some floaty breakdowns & spirally beats. I bop along with DDR & check out the set-up.

DDR is up next, he bangs out a heavy London-style set of pounding Acid Techno on Abelton live. He has 3 midi controllers (one which mimics a 303), his laptop & a mixer. He makes full use of all the equipment & gets right into his set. The crowd are thoroughly enjoying the tunes and so am I. Everyone is proper hyped up & all too quickly his set is over. It is not long that the night comes to an end. The kickout time is 5am which seems really early as i feel like i have only just got going. Never mind it is off to get some food with my new mates (DDR's Finnish fans and their Japanese companion) I just wish i could remember their names but i'm far too pissed for that.

We manage to find a nice restaurant & sit down for quick meal. I order way too much food & slurp my way through the stacks of noodles. Fuck knows how but i end up arguing with the Japanese dude & storm out of the gaff. I leave my payment of course!

I get to the station & find that i've left my purse in the rest'. Bollox!...I'm fucked. I start wandering all the round place for over 20 minutes in absolute devastation thinking i've lost all my cards, money, driving licence. I'm really not sure how i manage to find my way back to the place but i did. Call it homing-pigeon!

I find them just leaving & make my apologies to the owners & Japanese guy. I don't wanna fall out with them & feel a bit of twat like...But, in true fuckin Lawski fashion i end up arguing with them again & this time i storm off with my WALLET!...ahahaha

It takes me ages to get home as i'm far too pissed to remember my station, i get lost & cannot find a taxi. By

DJ Redd in the mask - matey who's booked me for set in Tokyo
the time i manage to fall through my door it is 4 & a half hours after i left the club. What a fuckin palarva! :-)

Sunday is spent in bed nursing a hangover. I get up late at night & search out some food. I relax until morning which is when i am due to check out & head to Kawaguchkio - Mount Fuji. This is the part i am really excited about. Exploration, proper scenery, old style villages, climibing & theme parktastic!

To me this is the part of Japan that really gets me moist. Mountainous, windy roads & countryside, old buildings, shrines, delicate houses, huge beautiful lakes, trees & not a single pachinko in sight.
