Edit Blog Post
Sarai, Sally, Me
Some fellow Canadians. Welcome to the GoodLife
It has been a while since I have written a new blog, I know, but I have been busy looking for work. Thankfully, one of the temp agencies has finally pulled through and has a 1 week assignment for me starting this Wednesday. It is only for 1 week but it pays enough to cover my rent for the month soo all is well. And it works out because my friend from school, Taylor, is coming to visit that following Sunday for two weeks so I will be off work and able to travel around Ireland, hopefully Europe too, for a bit. Then when she leaves me to return to Canada I will hopefully have a new assignment from one of the temp agencies. So that is what I have been up to lately.
Since I did get an assignment for the following week I decided to take a day off from the job search and head out to another FREE museum. So, on Friday I got up early and walked the 4km towards Phoenix Park to the other National Museum of Ireland but this time for Decorative Arts and History. This museum was on
the old Dublin army barracks so that was pretty neat to begin with. The collection in this museum was very large and had a lot of different exhibits for all tastes. They had the Army Life exhibit that follows Ireland's history of war within and outside of Ireland. It was very interesting to see that even when they immigrated to other countries and joined armies in their new home land they still had strong ties back to Ireland that would turn these small army platoons into Irish battalions. Even for those recruits who were a few generations from being born in Ireland they still found themselves in irish battalions or creating irish battalions. The pride for being Irish is really remarkable.
Some of the other exhibits that were really nice was the Clothing throughout the Ages, a 1000 Years of Irish Coin, Irish Jewellery, Irish Furniture, and random decorative arts pieces. My favourite exhibit was a piece within the History to the 1916 Easter Rising (which marked the beginning to the Civil War in Ireland and to freedom of the Republic of Ireland. This was my favourite not only because it showed the process that took place that began
the Civil War but their was a beautiful display of the Book of Resurrection, or in Gaelic Leabhar na hAiseirghe. This is a illuminated manuscript that has some of the most beautiful and intricate images I have ever seen. There are 26 pages to this manuscript and it took the artist, Art O'Murnaghan, 1 year to design and draw EACH single page. I wish that I could have taken pics of these pages and they only had one card of one of the pages in the gift store and it did not do the image any justice. But I will search for some sort of reproduction of these images.
So I finished my day at the Museum and made my way home to make some dinner. I had just barely finished eating when I received a phone call from my friend Sally telling me to get dressed cbeause we were going to go out. Next thing I know we are at T-Pain's afterparty watching him Spin and Mix in the DJ booth. For those that don't know he is a pretty big deal in the Hip-Hop/Rap world. So it was definitely a unique opportunity. All in all it was
Sally, Jim, Sarai
Sally and Sarai with their friend Jim who got us in for FREE a pretty darn good day.
I will let you know how my first week of working in Dublin goes.

Fun Time
Glad you finally got a work gig...rent is important...can't have fun if you have no place to stay. Thanks for giving me the low down on T Rain...perhaps he'll do a song about your adventures in Ireland!
