We have arrived in Lima, safe and sound. A long day of flying has landed us in the heart of modern Peru. Speaking of modern, upon landing in San Salvador, we entered Club San Salvador. Think hard house music pumping out the speakers of an Airbus. Unexpected, no?

We found a reputable taxi driver upon exiting customs that would take us to our hotel for what our trust Eyewitness Travel Peru (EWT in the future) guide said it would cost. Along the way, our driver got very caught up in the quality of Holly´s Spanish, and told us all about Cuzco. He made an attempt to teach us a local dialect, Quechua, which is, to say the least, impossible. He recommended a dish of potatoes, cheese, and corn beer, that we need to try in Cuzco. We were also treated to music from the region, courtesy of one of his burned CDs. If anyone has ever been to Italy, you can imagine our drive. Lines mean nothing, lights mean little, and you life is in the hands of your driver. We made it to the Sheraton, paid our driver a nice tip, and while getting out I told him "por la musica", or "for the music" that he had treated this. Either he interpreted this as I was tipping with getting the music from him in mind, or he was just a really nice guy, because he pulled out the CD and gave it to us. A handshake, and a kiss to Holly´s cheek, and he was gone.

The Sheraton is great. We already took a long walk up the street to the nearby Plaza San Martin to people watch. On the way back, we enjoyed Peruvian beer served by young Peruvian hombres in Liederhosen. Yes, we´ve flown 2000+ miles to return to Oktoberfest. Actually, now we´ve gotten a bit more authentic and will soon be returning to the room to sip on Pisco sours. We´ve attached a couple pics, one from the plaza, and one from the wild fruit arrangement we received in our room. No allergic reactions...yet.

So, anyone who was worried, worry not. We´re here, we´re happy, and we´ll be in touch.

Jealous
I am so jealous of you guys. If I could be there I would even eat a piece of your Fear Factor fruit. Enjoy!
