Free Museums and Pretty Parks

Today I went for a walk to visit some of the gorgeous parks and free museums that dublin has to offer.

First, I went to the St.Stephen's Green park which is very pretty. It has a nice pond with ducks and swans and there are all kinds of dogs running around. It is a very popular place for people to go throughout the day but especially during lunch hour. To get to St.Stephen's you have to walk up Grafton st. which is the main shopping area with amazing clothing and shoe shops. There are also a lot of buskers along this road singing and dancing in the street (It is a blocked off street so that no cars can drive on it).

I then went over to the Museum of Ireland: Architecture and History. The nice thing about dublin is most museums are free! Soo this museum goes through the history of Ireland. Many, many, many beautiful artifacts. My favourite was one exhibit about bodies that they have found in bogs throughout Ireland. They are from 400BC-400AD and very very well preserved. One guy from 300AD you could still see his face perfectly. The hair on his chin, the red curls on his head, its crazy. They were able to study these bodies and find out what their last meal was!!! It was very neat to say the least. There was also a special exhibit on Ancient Egypt with some amazing looking mummies. Definitely a good place to go on a day when you have some spare time.

I then wanted to go to the Nature Museum with all of the animal exhibits but... it was closed for some reconstruction. It's like Nova Scotia alll over again! (lutes fam joke) Apparently, (according to a nice Irish man in a park) the museum has been under construction for the last year because the front stairs collapsed. The nice irish man told me to not hold my breath for them to be finished before I leave.

So instead I went to the Ireland Art Gallery...also free... and looked at the pretty paintings.

From there I went to the Merrion Sq. Park, which is another beautiful park. It is full of trees covered in what looks like Ivy and Mistletoe. This was a very nice park with a monument to Oscar Wilde. This park was full of birds. All you hear is the chirping of the birds all around you.

After this long day of walking I headed home. Tomorrow I shall go to the market to check out the fruits and veggies. I also have to do an online computer skills test for a temp agency that I am meeting with on Monday. Hopefully I pass.

Talk to you soon!
