This is the best street name ever.
Well I finally made it to the UK!

I took a bus last night at 9pm from Liege, Belgium, and got to London around 6am. The train to Whitstable left at 7:30, I got there around 10ish I think. I wandered until I found someone who could directions to the stree Alice's sister lives on. I walked there and met Esther and Jason and their two adorable kids, Harry (turned 9 today!) and William, who's 3 years old. They have all adopted me into their household for a couple days, and I think it will be a blast. The kids are full of energy and fun. William kept climbing up into my lap as I was trying to sort my pictures on the computer. I showed him what a map of Canada looked like and he pointed somewhere around Nunavut and said "There's Cornwall!" Then asked me questions about MY mum.

It was a little hectic around here because of the birthday, and me showing up on the doorstep unannounced. Both Alice and I managed to not call ahead of time; Esther knew I'd be around sometime but not for sure when, and I guess Alice and I each thought the other had called, but we actually hadn't. Luckily they were home when I got here and it wasn't a bad time for me to show up or anything... they got back from 5 weeks in Australia last week, so THAT would have been a bad time to suddenly appear on the doorstep. But it all worked out. Right now its 8pm and the kids are in bed and its quiet... You don't realise what quiet is until you have kids showing you all day what it isn't.

When they were at the birthday party I walked around town and took a few pictures. Whitstable is beautiful, it's a fishing town so it's all stretched along the water, and theres lots of neat shops and galleries and interesting old buildings. Today was Sunday so almost everything was closed, but tomorrow everything should be open and hopefully Esther and I can do a bit of browsing and shopping! Not too much shopping because I already did most of that in Maastricht :D

I'm pretty bagged tonight. I wasn't able to sleep much on the bus overnight, enough to function but still feel a bit foggy. Fortunately I'm starting to really feel better, I think I've kicked this cold. About time, too! So anyways here's some pictures for you all, I think I'm going to have an early night and a busy day tomorrow.

happy that the signs are in english,
~Bev

A random road sign. I think it has to do with how you never "get" the right of way, but you're supposed to "give" it instead. Important if you get in a car accident and try to defend yourself.
