We all woke up with a huge hangover and not looking forward to our walk that day. We walked for a few hours through the jungle to the bamboo rafting place. This was great fun just floating down the river on a load of bamboo canes tied together with a bloke at the front steering it. The Thai version of the Venetian boats. It was really relaxing and serene just taking in all the scenery, apart from the few rapids we rattled down, trying to get fall in!

After a while we got off and into the minibus to drive back to the hotel to a very welcoming bed, shower and toilet. We slept for an hour before the whole group went out for some beers, minus the frenchies who called it a night. Typical french, surrending early....

The German said he knew of a good place near a lake to eat about 5km out of town. The German flagged down a songthaew (adapted flatbed van taxi) and drove for miles. The driver had no idea where he was going and I couldn't contain my laughter as the German got more and more irate, 'nein, nein, NEIN! Zis is not ze place!!'

A good two hours later we ended up in the right place. Apart from them not having half the stuff on the menu, we had a fairly decent meal. 30quid for seven people with beers. We got another taxi back into town. It had turned out the same bloke had just waited until we finished our meal!

We had a few drinks in town and played pool. Everyone agreed we were too tired to go to a club so we agreed to go out tomorrow and call it a night. Adam, one norwegian and I went to another place before going home ourselves. We couldn't remember exactly where our hotel was so stopped a young lad and we signalled us to jump on his moped. The next thing I know, there's 4 of us on the back of moped driving round Chaing Mai looking for our hotel. We were only doing about 10mph because of the weight so don't worry mum!

A little while later we found the place much to Adam's relief holding on for dear life!
