Well, time flies when your having fun!
So we are in Penang, leaving tomorrow. Our visit to KL again was good but not very exciting. We love our hostle there (the Paradiso) and so we spent most of our time writing cards, reading, and watching movies. But on our second las night there we met a really nice English couple. And so the nexy evening we went out for dinner with them and hung out for a while and then we showed them our wedding photos (the few that we have). So that was probably the most exciting part of KL. But we didn't mind, we have been slacking a bit on our cards. So we took a bus here to Penang which was not too bad. Getting on the bus on the other hand was GAY! We got to the station early (of coarse) and we had to wait till the bus was supposed to leave when finally the guy told us to come. But then we couldn't even go down the stairs to where the bus was supposed to be, we stood around alittle more. Then finally he told us to follow him (with a bunch of other people) and we walked out of the station and thought we were being led to a bus. But nope! We were led to a empty part of the curb between two buses, and left there. Then a different guy told us to follow him across the road, and a few of us almost got hit by a few scooters and cars... thanks buddy... and then we waited on the other side of the road for a while, and the we finally got on the freaking bus. Holy crap, I was going to kill someone.
So it was about 5 and a half hours trip during which we both slept (thank goodness) and watched a movie. Then we took a cab to our hostel. So we thought we had booked a 4 bed room (all the private rooms were booked) but it turns out that 4 beds means 4 bunk beds... yay! So 8 beds. It hasn't been that bad other than the one guy who never leaves the room and snores as loud as a vacuum, and the construction we get to wake up to every morning! the room has AC and the bathroom isn't so bad, even though there is only one toilet for everyone, I have not had to wait so it's all good. Oh yeah, and last night a new guy was talking in his sleep... loudly... haha, it was a little funny... but mostly just SHUT UP! haha. Oh and the owner has the cutest puppy ever! A tiny black lab, and she just loves us! haha. So friggen cute.
So yesterday we rented a scooter and went to the botanical garden. There wasn't a lot to it but it was pretty and really nice to be out in nature a bit. We saw a few monkeys which was a good time and there was a man made waterfall. There were also a few neat flowers and cactus' but over all not much. And then we went to the beach for a little bit, we read, played frisbee. And then we decided to go for a swim... but that was short lived... there were weird clear peeled grape looking things all over the beach along the water line, and as we soon found out... all in the water! It weirded us out to much so out we went!
So tomorrow we are leaving penang for Songkhla, Thailand. It's a East of Hat Yai, the crap hole we stayed in on our way down to Malaysia, so hopefully it'll be a bit nicer there. Phil's also hoping that there will be some breaks there so he can surf a bit. We couldn't find any hostels online in Songkhla but we met someone at our hostel who has been there before and he told us the Sab Sabai Hotel was a good place to try and stay. Hopefully they have room when we get there! We are mostly just passing through so if it's a crap hole its a short lived crap hole. After that the plan is to go to Ko Samui for a couple of days and then end up in Chang Mai for Christmas. The German guy that we met in Bali spent tons of time in Chang Mai and said that it was an amazing place to go so I think we'll plan on being there for Christmas. We thought that we could get into Laos pretty quickly, but getting our visas is going to take a bit longer then originally planned, and we decided Chang Mai sounded like a good place to spend Christmas. So hopefully everything from here works out well.
Woop.

travels
Colleen and Phil, We are your long lost cousins living on a beautiful island that none of our relatives want to fly this far out to visit us. You are half way there and our rooms and bathrooms are sooooo nice and clean better yet we even have full maid service for you if you want to come this way for a visit. The food is really good too and little Dylan (your second cousin) would love to host you.
