Hi All, it's official. Maeve is even more sparkly that ever, she now has a stunning Diamond ring to match her sparkling eyes. We're both delighted and excited about our big day in the Summer of 2010.

After several failed attempts to ask the big question, I finally tricked Maeve into going onto the roof of our apartment building. Whilst we were waiting (Maeve quiet impatiently) for ficticious fireworks to start and with views of the Harbour bridge and the Opera House and with the lights of Sydney twinkling all around us I got down on one knee and asked her the question. To my delight and relief she did manage to squeek out a 'yes'.

The response from everybody has been really amazing. Firstly everybody seemed more shocked that I thought. I was expecting to be told 'bout time' but it seems that after 4 years nobody was expecting it. So thanks to all those who've passed on their best wishes. We even got our first engagement card in the post the other morning (Thanks Alice). It seems that an army of assistants have already sprung into action back home to start wedding preparations, so sincere thanks to all those who are organising this and that and even practising the piano.

Last Sunday Maeve and I treated ourselves, courtesy of Danny and Ines, to a real treat, a slap-up feed in Doyles of Watsons Bay. A Sydney institution in fine dining. The sun was shining, we were practically dining on a beach and the food was amazing, not to mention the 2 bottles of Bubbly we had to celebrate. It was the perfect way to celebrate such a special ocasion. Thanks again to Danny and Nessy.

I think that I'd be writing all week before I could even begin to describe the ring itself so I won't, I'll let the pictures do that. This will probably be the shortest blog entry all year. Thanks again to one and all for your warm greetings. We can't wait to see ye all again and have a big engagement party (or parties) when we get home. And a special thanks to Maeve for being the wonderful, warm, beautiful, charming and special woman that she is and for saying yes.

Working on the Speech
Just so I dont waste a load of time on the speech, whats off bounds? Is the word langer allowed? How liberal are Maeves parents? Re stag: again whats off bounds? Kerins was asking about the bloody geriatric gay club in Bremen again, could you have a word or will I?
