Driving in Tunisia is ... fun, probably similar to racing but with a lot of moving targets !

We enjoyed Tunisia, from the palmery of Tozer (date havest time) to the lost city of Tataouine where we got to live a few days with a familly who were busy picking up olives.

Lessons learnt in Tunisia

1. When driving in the middle of the night, think twice before taking the dirt road, it could become a sand dune and you may spend 2 hours digging your car out of the sand.

2. When sharing a meal over a camp fire with an arabic-berber family never throw the food into the fire, allah will punish you.

3. When taking a ferry across the mediterranean, always ask if food is included in the ticket.

4. When going for a walk in a palmery surrounded by canyons, try to stick to the main road, or you could spen hours walking around the same palm tree looking in 40 degree heat looking for that palm tree you parked you card under.

5. If you ever see a tent hitched next to an olive grove, stop to have a look. You may find a family of Tunisians sitting in the tree picking olives who'll happily offer you a cup of tea and a few arabic lessons.

6. If you want to swim in the Mediterranean don't come in November.

7. You can drink olive oil! They drink the stuff here. Wallah

Dirty...Dirty...
Dirty...

We got stuck in the sand with the car. It took 2 hours to get out. We had to remove the sand from under the car with our hands a few times.

Hi
Hello, It's always a pleasure to read your stories and to enjoy your pictures! (I could add: 8. Never try to pick juicy cactus fruit on your own because of all those very tiny prickles that remain pricked in your fingers...) Have fun!
