Travel Blog Posts
From time to time I type "Francois Beaussier" in google to check what the internet knows about me, that's usually interesting :) Today I realised that this blog does not show up on the first page anymore and that's a shame! So let's revive this blog with an occasional post, shall we? You favourite traveller is now living in Coogee, by the beach (this is a suburb of Sydney). I started working again and no, it was not that hard to get back to it. I do think about travelling again, maybe next year? I bought a motorbike and I enjoy learning my way around. It's one think to use public transport for a few years but driving gives you a different perspective on the city and its surroundings. Don't worry, I drive safely, well... at ... read more
Arriving to Hong kong Island by bicyble was a bit of a challenge. Everybody told me to take the metro but I got refused entry because bikes are not allowed inside. I decided to go by road and asked a police officer that told me it was way too far (he said 60km) and that anyway bikes were not allowed in the tunnel... I cycled to the next station, wondering what to do. I tried to get in the metro again and this time I was told that they would let me in if I removed the front wheel. Yeah I can try that ! I attached the wheel to my backpack and somehow managed to carry everything. I was quite the attraction in the metro. I wish I had taken a photo ! After the ... read more
The last 80 kilometers in Laos were quite hard so it's a tired Francois that arrived at the border crossing. Officers were surprised to see someone on a bicycle and they were quite curious. At some point, one of them even asked me quite formally to step a few meters away from my bike. I started to wonder what it was all about when in fact he jumped on it and did a few meters just to try it :) Another officer asked me $1 for stamping the visa. It's not legal but there was no point to get into trouble for so little. There was a small office where I was able to change my Laos money into Vietnamese Dongs. In less than 20 minutes I was on the other side... ... and then it ... read more
I was not sure what to expect when arriving to Laos. Would it be very different from Thailand? I crossed the url=http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=17.880657,102.71616&spn=0.011375,0.022445&z=16Friendship bridge (Laos in at the north, Thailand south) which links the 2 countries in the afternoon and headed to Vientiane, the capital city, about 25 km away. My first experience was that there was no road sign, you just have to know where to go (or in my case ask the locals and trust your luck^^). After 2 weeks pedalling in the countryside, I felt a bit out of touch with the backpacker crowd; the guys at my hotel would only talk about how much they dunk the previous day and how much they will drink tonight... I was also getting used to meet friendly locals that actually want to meet and talk to ... read more
After cycling about 100km, I arrived in the town of Ban Pho. It looked quite big and I asked a few local where the nearest guesthouse/hotel was. A few drinks later (white whisky, similar to tequila) I said goodbye (sawa dee krap) and headed straight then right and then left or was it right ? I was in a small street, about 6pm and desperately in need of a shower when a few people shouted in English "Hello", "Hi", "Come Here" and other various Thai sentences. I stopped the bike and got surrounded by a group of girls, two of them could say a few worlds of English and told me to share their meal. Then I realized that half of the girls where boys, well I mean ladyboys. They all wanted to take a picture ... read more

Hi everyone, my name is T39 and I was born in China. My life has been quite boring so far and I've spent most of my time in a shop in Bangkok. My dream was to explore the world but, I could only look at Lumphini park across the street... This was my life until last week, but then I got bought by a French guy ! And I'm told he wants to cycle with me until hongkok, I can't wait :) Salut, moi c'est T39 et je suis ne en chine.
Tonight I went to see some some thai boxing. I took the boat to go all the way to Kaoh San and walked to the stadium from there. Prices for the tickets were 1000/1500/2000 bahts (50/75/100 AUD or 25/33/50 Euros). I had no idea so I took the cheapest. I ended up behind a fence and I think it's worth paying 1500 to get on the other side. There are 10 matchs in an evening, starting a 6:30. The best one (with the stars) is at 9:30. The stadium is full of Thai men who really enjoy the show. It's loud and everybody shouts. The sound itselt is a great experience :) Everybody semms to bet hundreds of bath but I did not understand how it works. Right hand is to bet on the red guy, ... read more
