Hola everyone,
I don't know about all of you - but October seems like a blur to me - I honestly don't know where the time went. I now only have less than 2 months here - which is unbelievable. I was talking to a friend for a while today, and we both have very mixed emotions about leaving, but in general don't really want to think about that. It's just scary because I know that the second half will probably go by even faster. I know that part of me will be ready to go home, but it will be extremely difficult to say goodbye to my life here.
Anyways...the festival here in Guanajuato ended on Sunday. I guess I didn't really notice that it was even here too many times - just because I kept busy and was in other places on the weekends. I did make it to one show - called the Aluminum Show - which was definitely different, but slightly entertaining. It was a show from Israel and basically it was all of these different acts in which they used aluminum. Pretty difficult to describe, so that's really all I can say about it.

my first time trying it Strange, but interesting. This weekend I went to the centro and it was just absolutely crazy. There were so many people, that it was difficult to walk around and just wasn't worth it. So I guess I'm glad the festival is over with and now things will be back to normal in the city.
I spent a weekend at the beach this month - which was such a nice vacation. I was south of Puerto Vallarta in a small town called Barra de Navidad. It was a very relaxing place, with few tourists. Some older retired Americans, but not too many. And because it's the off season - there just weren't many people there in general. I loved being in the town at night, and especially going down to the pier to see all of the people fishing. The majority used pop bottles and fishing line and nothing else, but they were catching some really big fish! It was at least 90 the whole time we were there, and very sunny, so swimming in the ocean was perfect.
Other than that, I haven't done anything too out of the ordinary. I went to a zoo one day which
was a lot of fun - especially to see the differences in animals. Most of it was the same - I think there were just more animals that come from Latin or South America. I went to a Mexican circus, which was awful. But apparently there is a really great circus here now so we might check that one out.
I've spent a lot of time with my family this month, and have grown even closer to them. I spend a lot more time with the grandkids - Betito and Julia. We often play in the garden, or just hang out and chat. Betito and I usually do our homework together. It's nice to always have company in the house. I made Kraft Mac & Cheese for my family this weekend. We found it in the grocery store and I just had to buy it. As I made it they all stood around and watched, because they had no idea how it was made. It was pretty funny, but they seemed to like it.
Saturday is Day of the Dead, so I am looking forward to actually seeing how it is celebrated, since I have learned about it
so many times in Spanish classes. On Saturday my family will be going over to a friends house to celebrate, like they do every year. It is also Halloween on Friday - and even though it's not traditionally celebrated here - it has become more popular - so maybe I will be doing something with that as well.
The weekend after that I will be going to Mexico City and Teotihuacan (pyramids) with my group here, and the weekend after that my family is coming to visit! And then I will only have a few weeks left!
The weather has been really nice up until the last couple days. It's usually very sunny and at least 80 during the day. However the last couple of days have been really windy and "cold" - I think upper 50's or low 60's. But the sun hasn't been shining and it's very windy - so windy in fact that the power went out for hours last night. But my friend from Michigan and I were talking about the fact that we're cold, but we know that this isn't anything compared to the cold we have in the winters back home. So
oysters fresh out of the ocean
but i just couldn't bring myself to try one we're trying to not complain too much.
Hope all is well with everyone! Miss you and love you.
