Hello all!

Today I have officially become an employee of the European Union. I got an email the other day about teaching English, and I met with the woman today , and we chatted about it. The requirements were you had to be a native speaker of English and you had to speak German. Check.

I now am employed as "ein Englischsprachtrainer," an English language instructor. I start next week! Typically I'd be teaching people in and around Graz, and I might get some private instructions , but for now I have to go about a half an hour north of here by Brück on der Mur. There's a big company there that is looking for about 30 people to come in and teach the businessmen and women English. I'll have a group of 3-5 people at the introductory level, so they should have no knowledge of English! It's going to be really cool/difficult, teaching English through German, but will be good practice for once I start with Libor. Oh, and did I mention I get paid 20euro an hour, plus payment for transportation and travel time? Not too shabby, eh?

Other than that, I've just been hanging out and doing homework. Currently trying to decide between staying in Austria and traveling during February or going back to America for a bit. Either way, it's looking like the last week of February I'll be in Poland, visiting Martyna with Libor in Warsaw, so that'll be awesome.

One last thing. As I've told you, Austrian German is very different from the image of German you guys are used to having. I found a really stupid video on youtube that actually demonstrates pretty well the difference.

If this link doesn't work for you, then go to youtube.com and type in English-German-Austrian. It should be the first video of a girl talking. It's pretty stupid, but it actually has pretty good examples .

Here's also a song in Austrian, in the Tyrolese dialect, which is in the West, where Innsbrück is.

If it doesn't work, go to youtube.com and type in "Anton aus Tirol." It should be the 2nd video, and have a picture of a blonde man. It means "Anthony from Tyrol." Enjoy? haha You'll see why I make that a question...
