Do you ever hear a song and remember a time in your life? Or feel the seasons change and are taken back to a specific time and place? For some reason, the fall reminds me of Daegu. I don’t know if it’s the weather or the fact that that is where I was last year. But with a desire to visit some old friends and to go back to where it all started about a year ago, I took a weekend trip to Daegu two weeks ago.

It was weird to go and not have the same crew there. It made me realize that Korea really is this temporary place. And people come and go through this country so quickly. It made me kind of sad to think that in a few month that I too would be leaving.

The trip was amazing nonetheless. It was nice to see the friends that were still there and to meet some new faces. I got there on Friday night after work and after meeting up with Charmonica we went to dinner to catch up. On the way home we nearly got in a car accident. It was freaky. I hate Korean cabs/drivers.

Saturday we had a late start but met up with her boyfriend and decided to go to Woobang Tower. It’s on a hill overlooking Daegu. When we got there I noticed that they had a SkyJump. I was debating the whole way up if I should do it or not. Then finally when we got up to the 78th floor I just bought a ticket and decided to do it. It is like Bungee Jumping and Skydiving in one. Once you get to the 78th floor (about 123 meters from ground) you get suited up and put into a harness. When I was up there they asked me if I wanted to have my picture taken when I was hanging or falling. I thought that I would be hanging over the platform, so I said hanging. Little did I know I would be hanging with nothing but a bulls eye 123 meter below me.

After I was suited up, I headed out to the platform that was sticking out of the tower. The minute I stepped out there, I started to freak out. There were people gathered around the tower window taking pictures and going crazy. The

workers connected my harness to the ropes and I slowly made my way to the end of the platform. I was holding on to the ropes, but I was so scared that I couldn’t hold on to the rope tight enough. Finally the guy told me to let go of the rope and I was just dangling in midair as they waited for me to turn around to take my picture. After they took my picture, the man didn’t even warn me and all the sudden I realize that I’m falling through the sky, screaming my head off. Ten seconds later it was all over and worth it. As I reached the ground the ropes slowed me down and another worker at the bulls eye started helping me down. It was an amazing experience. After doing that, I’d definitely trying skydiving.

Saturday night the girls and I got dressed up and headed out downtown for dinner, drinks, and dancing. It was a great end to a great day.
