Welcome back! I'm glad to read your updates. Sorry to hear about your father... I hope you and your family are doing better soon. have a great year and keep the blog posts coming!
mm.. The choices you make are an extension of your freedom and how you choose to live it... someone once told me that, and it put things in perspective for me. I know you will always be aware of your actions and reflective of your choices, stay strong and unapologetic about the decisions you make for your well-being and the well-being of others. We all have to be selfish for one reason or another, but it's in how we react and are aware of those actions. I appreciate your honesty and reflection ma. Thinking of your family and your father. Hope to connect with you more. BIG HUG.
Life's a journey not a destination. Life's a journey not a destination. I remember seeing that on one of those cheesy motivation posters or coffee mugs (probably on the desk of a coworker I didn't like... hehe j/k). But I think that statement stuck with me, and really runs true. The process of "finding ourself" is not easy, and it's different for everyone, and it happens at different times. Every year, I'm rediscovering myself, and I'm all over the goddamn place. It's not easy, my mind probably hates me, but I'm still moving forward. I'm thinking a change is coming in 2011, time to reinvent, innovate and change the game. I think the lessons you're learning now are invaluable, and can't be taught in any classroom, and can only come from on the job life experience. You don't always need a roadmap to figuring everything out, just ballpark it, besides you're not going to have googlemap directions - cause life is about the journey, not necessarily having a destination. :)

Welcome back! I enjoyed reading your posts in the past, Susan, and I am glad you have not dropped off the face of the earth!
Please continue to keep us updated, and I hope your father's health improves!
interesting! Interesting! Good deal with getting on that bike, at least you did it, and you went into a bush, no big deal, but if you hadn't tried, you might have looked back a year from now thinking "damn, I wish I had done it" so now you don't have to say that! :)

I is for Intriguing Hmmm... interesting post, Susan.
I had that happen with a cab driver in Manila, Philippines, he took the 'long way' around to my destination; a supposed 'short cut' that cost twice as much. So I only paid half and he followed me down the street shouting at me.
Also, I had a mouse sit on my head in the middle of the night while I was asleep... this was in Chicago. (No, I didn't ask it to.)
WOW! As always, after reading your blogs, I am ready to buy a plane ticket and wander. Though, I do have to say, I could do without the rat running across my face ;)
Also, could you please elaborate on getting into trouble at the Golden Temple? There are always some shennanigans with you!

P.S. I totally had to get a fecal sample when I was in Venz. I did have the container, and it came with this mini little scooper. Hilarious!
the adventure continues! that's a phrase my friends and I use when we travel, "the adventure continues!" and it sounds like that's more than applicable for you right now. I'm so excited for your new adventures, can't wait to hear all about them, remember to practice your bollywood dance moves before India! :)

excellent stuff! yet again your spontaneity amazes me! travel to a country here and there, move back home, move to a new city, and apply to grad school. sounds like you got it figured out! I might just be joining you in Chicago in the new year! will keep you posted! Also, I'm a few Susan msgs behind, I realize from looking at the pics on this blog entry! :P
Miss you! I didn't know you came back to the U.S! When you come back next, give me a call (I still have the same number if you still have it). It's so nice to see pictures of everyone. I would love to see you!
- Great to finally find your blog here- thanks for the posts. It sounds like you're doing well- and these are good goals to re-evaluate. I am sure that overall you have grown and changed and learned so much through your time in Korea. We're visiting Korea in 10 days, so I'll write you an email... we'd LOVE to see you if possible! :)
maybe you forgot one? Maybe this wasn't a goal, or maybe it became one along the way, but what 4) discovering yourself and learning your limits and pushing beyond. Because lets be honest you went there, with not a ton of knowledge and you survived, created a network, learned a "new" culture and have become a seoul-ite. Pretty impressive. All along the way learning about yourself, and how you deal with ups, downs, things in your control and of course things out of your control... an all important set of lessons. :)

I was on a business trip from Seoul to Busan in late 2007 and my boss booked us all into a love motel, it was much better than a regular hotel, I'll say!
