Today was a pretty low-key day. Since I have my bus pass now, I got to sleep in a little bit later, and then still had my 25-30 minute walk up to school from the Hauptplatz. We got our tests back, and I got a 51/58, which in the Austrian grading system is a 1, which is also called "sehr gut" , and the highest marking you can get, so basically an A. I was one of the 3 people in the class to get above a 50 which I was happy about.

Call me the next Emeril, 'cause not only did I cook myself dinner last night , but I also made myself lunch for today to bring to class with me! I know, I know, you're impressed. Ham & cheese, mmm.

I went to the train station after to try to see if I could find out anything about trips to France, since I have from the 25th-1st off, and I want to go see everyone up there. The train station was about as useful as my pinky toenail , so I guess the online quest will just have to continue for now.

After that I headed back up to school for a meeting with the Germanistik Department, which is basically the German Studies Department. They've got a lot of interesting classes about the history of the German language and literature classes, so I'm going to try to take maybe 3 of those and 1 class in Italian and hopefully that'll be enough credits to transfer back to UVM. Not sure, though, so have to start the hassle of communicating with UVM which isn't good for anybody. I missed a meeting for American students about 3 classes here that're open only to us. SUNY does an exchange here, so we can take those classes, and though they're all in German, they're only with American kids. I don't particularly want to do that, but there's one about Austrian history so I might try to do that. My friend picked up the information for me, so we'll see. My roommate wants to do them, 'cause he's been really whiney and an obnoxious American unwilling to adapt to the environment , so I don't think I'd really want to partake in a class full of kids like that. My favorite quote from him so far, "I can't believe how different Austria is from Germany...it's like it's another country." HUH?!?!?

That's about it, though, nothing too excited. Discovered a way on the buses to get to school in about 15 minutes, so definitely going to start to do that so I can sleep more in the mornings. Now I'm off to attempt spaghetti and try to get some laundry in! We're down to one washing machine so it's pretty cut-throat. Hopefully I can get in there since it's been more than a week and I need to wash a pair of pants since I'm going to the opera this weekend in Vienna. Look at me, bein' all cultured and stuff. Aw shucks.

Macht's gut!

loved the toenail comment! Going to ponder it's use for the rest of the day. Hope you get some better silverware to help savor your gastronomic creations!
