Australia! Australia! Australiaaaa!
I'm having a way better time than I ever thought I would! The parents are giving me a decent amount of time off to explore the city & go out at nights. I am straight up the luckiest chick right now to be doing all of this for free! Hell! I sometimes forget. I’m getting paid awesome money for this! Whoop there it is! Whoop there it is!!!!
I haven’t been able to write due to lack of time and the internet being available. I’m usually online for like maybe 5 minutes a day just to send the rents an email and obviously check the Facebook notifications! Hahah 😉 I have been spending most of my time in Sydney but I recently just got home from a trip to Melbourne. Since I have been here, I have been living in the neighborhood called the Rocks. Its seconds away from the Aztec Bridge & the Opera house.. Its along the ocean & ferries.. lots of cobble stone walkways.. old buildings.. pubs.. a crafts market on Sunday.. and fancy shops & restaurants. Put it simply, it’s one of the “rich” areas of Sydney. One thing that I do
take full advantage of is going to see the Aboriginal men jam out on the didgeridoos along to electronic beats. Its SIIIICK! I seriously go there every day.. I think I bought 3 of their c.d.’s already =P Not only have they inspired me to buy a didgeridoo but also take lessons!!! Everywhere in Sydney they sell the didgeridoos but nowhere and I mean NOWHERE offers lessons! I spent days researching where I could take lessons & even had the hotel concierge guy to help me find some. I ended up finding this guy to teach me for an hour.. wasn’t cheap by any means but definitely worth it. Plus the teacher was hott so it was definitely worth it =P I was producing sweet sounds & even animal calls. I loved it. I’m going to be purchasing my fancy dancy didgeridoo this week!!! Get ready rents. Actually, if you practice the didgeridoo for about 2-4 months it will decrease snoring & helps with sleep apnea. So you bet my ass that I will be getting my dad on this instrument every night. Start practicing your circular breathing Dadio! =P
But yeah, I found some really great bars/clubs. My

The bridge I climbed favorite so far has been the World Bar. It’s 10 bucks to get in and sorta far away but its guaranteed a good time. There are live bands, dj’s on different levels, and packed with good-lookin Aussies. I sure do love the Australian accent! Haha One thing I learned about myself is that I drink way more if I go to a bar alone than if I go out with friends. I get drunk so fast! I don’t even mean it. I think its just a nervous thing that I do because I’m all alone & nothing to do but sit and look pretty but once I ease up I magically make new friends! Hahah. Eh. Whateva works I suppose!!! =P
The family I work for surprised me with money to pay for the Bridge Climb here in Sydney. Its 440 ft steel arched bridge.. it was pretty cool. I thought it was going to be a little bit more challenging & scary but it wasn’t. I got some great views of the city but I was hoping for an adrenaline rush. I guess after jumping off cliffs & jumping out of planes downsizes climbing a high bridge. =P

I took a ferry ride Today, I took the baby out for a walk in the Botanical Gardens, which are right outside my hotel door. The garden is absolutely gorgeous.. its bigger than Central Park in NYC. So you can only imagine!!! As we were walking, I heard tons of noise coming from above me. So I looked up at the trees. My heart started a racin & my knees started a shakin. I think the only thing that came out of my mouth was what the fuhhk. (sorry). I could not believe what I was seein. I’m telling ya there were hundreds probably thousands of grey-headed flying fox bats hanging upside down from the trees. I only know what they are because I just googled them. Check this video out on youtube.com:

But yeah, these bats aren’t foolin around. They got the biggest heads, thick orange/black fur, and the thickest blackest widest wings a bat could ever have. Yeah, so apparently they have the biggest wingspan of any bat. 3 feet. 3 FEET!!! Insane. Just insane. I thought bats sleep during the day. Why in gods name were bats flying above my head? Of course there were some hanging upside down

eating shark down in Manly beach in their own cocoons they make by covering themselves with their enormous wings. But whoa baby. I could not believe what I walked into. Not one tree but like 5 or 6 trees infested with them? Ya, my jaw probably was legit hanging for a good 4 minutes. Ask my parents, I get scared of wild creatures like bees, spiders, & rodants. I’m a city chick. But I supposeee bats scare me too! Haha. I was amazed by them though. I’ve never really seen a SERIOUS live bat like that in my life before.
Anyways, on the contrary!!! When I went to Melbourne, I took a awesome day trip with the parents & baby Robert. We went to Phillip Island to see Koalas & the penguin march. We visted a conservation site for Koala bears. They were wild ones living in their natural environment. It wasn’t a zoo or anything. They just have it safe so they can reproduce. One of the mother Koala bears came really close to us with her lil baby. So cute. I’m definitely a big fan of Koalas. Then we headed to the beach to see the penguins around sunset. On the way there

on my way home from Manly beach we so wild kangaroos hopping. I got pretty giddy. That’s when I said to myself ‘alll right! Now this is Australia!!!!!.’ But when we got to the beach, we sat down on these benches to wait for the penguins to come out of the ocean. I saw this little fella scoot out of the water and then BAM! About a hundred followed. They are the smallest penguins in the world, seriously. Your not allowed to take pictures because it will frighten them and they will spit out their food that they spent all day getting for their babies. So basically, I watched this natural event of penguins returning to their burrows to feed their little babies. It was a magnificent experience. Penguins rock!
When I was in Melbourne, I unfortunately had a nasty head & chest cold. I’m now just getting over it. But since I was sick there I really didn’t get to explore as much as I wanted nor party hardy as I wanted to. Melbourne is known for the wild music scene. I hit up one club but left way too early because of the sickness. But Melbourne is extremely livable. I’d choose to live there

fishy face over Sydney. Put it simply, its got character & a funky edge to it. It reminded me of Buenos Aires a lil. I’d still hands down pick Buenos Aires over it but anyways. Melbourne had lots of alley ways with colorful street art & graffiti everywhere. It is also known for its good food. I hit up a popular Greek restaurant. I was strangely craving pastistio. I cannot lie, my uncle Peter & my dad make a better pastistio 😉 With the rest of time here in Sydney, I hope to visit the Blue Mountains & go rock climbing, hit up the Sunday markets, meet the man of my dreams, go crazy at a club, buy & practice my didgeridoo, buy a pair of uggs (I have always thought they were ugly but they are comfy & found a cute one. I figured since I’m in Australia, why not?), visit Bondi beach, get my bangs cut, & maybe do something crazy & spontenous like skydiving or go diving with sharks. Ya neva know!!!! =)
