You can't see it too well but the statues were interesting
I am a little burned from an afternoon napping on the beach. It's a funny burn because the the sun was sort of low in the sky so it is uneven and pretty comical. This morning me and Shannon were up and at em' pretty early (yesterday was pretty low key after enjoying the sunrise so we both got full nights sleep) and we decided not to be bums and actually go see some sights. We went to the Templo Expiatorio de la Sagrada Familia (the big cathedral in Barcelona) which was under fairly heavy construction, but was by far the most unique cathedral I have seen so far. One side looked like it was made of melting wax, or maybe more like the inside of a cave and the other side had these statues that were very linear and long, almost rectangular depictions of the crucifixion. After that we went a few tram stops down to Las Ramblas, a street with markets and stands with loads of... not street performers but people with elaborate costumes on and faces painted standing all up and down the street. There was a guy who had a dummy of a body with a head

cut off and then he was under a "table" with his head on a plate, and an angel, a soldier, a roman statue, I mean there were tons of these people. The stands were interesting as well because they were actually grouped and somewhat organized, all of the flower shops were in a section of the street and further down all of the art shops were grouped together, and before that all of the pet shops were grouped together. That is right, pet stands in a merchant street, I could have bought a bunny or a turtle or a squirrel out of a kiosk stand thing (seemed strange to me). We wandered a bit more down by the pier and then headed back to the hostel to get suits on for the beach. I had an excellent nap but failed to lather some sunscreen on, which wasn't smart because we will probably be on the beach for the next few days. We leave tomorrow for Alicante, and all we have really planned is beach. Should be relaxing and hopefully the burn isn't too uncomfortable, maybe I can turn into something that resembles a tan.
