... and i must be having fun because i haven´t written on my blog for a fortnight!

so the last group of kids came and went in a flash... one girl got thrown out for smoking weed and some others got cautioned for having a party in the boys bedroom (half of the guests being girls!) other than that, we enjoyed the usual fun and activities of camp life and i particularly enjoyed a day trip out to lerma, which was beautiful... saw lots of churches and monuments set in the vast spanish countrside.

saying goodbye yet again was sad... especially as this time i was also saying goodbye to 4 of the teachers. i´m particularly missing orla, who i shared a room with, as we had such a laugh! on her last night we went out for drinks with michelle and her boyfriend and didn´t have quite as much to drink as the previous weekend! we left town at about 4am and decided to have our own disco in the kids disco room so we had the mirror ball whizzing round and played all of our favourite cheesy spanish songs! then, we decided to have a game of drunken table tennis... but after missing almost every shot we got fed up of always bending down to pick the ball up and gave up!

when we´d said goodbye to the teachers the next day, i went into town and had a beautiful day by the river. burgos is just so relaxing... it never feels too crowded but there is always something happening and somewhere beautiful to sit and watch the day go by.

the next morning, the new teachers arrived... ewa is polish, patrick is american and helen and phil are both english... all of them are living in spain and are a really good laugh. i´m now teaching in the mornings and i´m really enjoying it. i only have 12 kids in my class and we are always laughing and chatting away. my favourite student is carlos - he speaks excellent english and is a real sweetie. after we danced our socks off at the disco last night (i think us teachers enjoy the discos more than the kids do!) i was on night duty and when i went into carlos´room he asked if he could have a chat because he was sad... aww bless him. he told me the dramas of being 13 - about love problems etc. and i told him to trust me because it would all seem a lot better in the morning and though it may seem like it´s the end of the world now, he probably would have forgotten about things by the morning! sensing that i wasn´t taking him seriously, he told me to trust him when he says that it IS a VERY big deal and that it is a very serious issue indeed. aww love him!

after the kids have gone to bed, the teachers often sneak downstairs and either grab a beer or a hot chocolate and then we watch a movie or just have a chat together... they all know that i get freaked out easily in the dark and don´t like scary movies etc. so they got one of the other girls to go outside and start banging on the kitchen window... it freaked me out for a good 10 minutes before i realised that they were all in on it... i´ll get them back!

today, i´ve had a day off as this lot of kids are off in lerma with 4 of the teachers... i took advantage of the time off and relaxed on the beach next to the river - bliss : )

Hola Heidi I was just enjoying a rare moment on the computer when Katie's not on it and I thought "I wonder what Heidi is doing" when I was skipping through my e-mails. Caramba! In Spain - how wonderful. Sounds like you're having a good time and pictures are beautiful. I'm enjoying a break from school, but have not gone away yet. Having a few days in North Wales at the end of August. Went to Dol-y-Moch again in July - it was brill. Sad to say bye to the Year 6s though. Keep up the good times Heidi. Adios - hasta la vista - Lesley x
