Off we go toward the most important day of our lives together.
Onward to Mexico, feeling a bit melancholy to be leaving home again, but off we go. We all made plans where and when to meet, who will ride in which van, what flights come in to Puerto Vaillarta when... wow, what a load of information to keep straight.
One of Johns' groomsmen Kelley, was unable to get his passport for the trip out of the country and was thinking he would not be able to make it, simply not an acceptable situation. Kelley has to be there or things just would not be complete. Well, he figured out that he could cross the border on foot with his drivers license. That seems to be a great idea... so he re-books new tickets from Seattle, to San Diego, crosses the border and catches a tram to the Tijuana airport and hops on a flight via Mexico City on to P.V. All this means he has to actually leave the day before all the rest of us board our flights. Off Kelley goes, on a wing and a prayer with our well wishes and high hopes that
we will actually see him in Mexico.
Like clockwork, we all arrive, meet up, and get on towards Costa Azul with no flaws at all. An amazing feat of organization for which Jane and Justice get all the credit. Arriving last of all our guests we walk on to the property with our jaws dropped in awe of how much better it actually is to what we had envisioned. Our guests were sitting around the pool and in the restaurant, food and drinks in hand already enjoying themselves immensely. Such a fantastic sight after such a stressful day of traveling. We proceeded up to our villa and found a place overlooking the resort that was INCREDIBLE. Such a beautiful villa was hardly imagined. Unpacking and putting our things in place for the week ahead, we wandered down to join our guests.
The six days that followed were simply idyllic; friends, family, beach, fun, and sun all culminating on the last evening with a ceremony on the beach at sunset witnessed by our guests and the universe where we made our intentions to each other.
We will NEVER forget that week. The morning after the
wedding most of our guests departed for their own homes, we made sure that we were up to bid them farewell. It felt sad to watch them all go after such a wonderful time that week, a melancholy mood set in as we watched the vans pull away. However, there was a bright light that still shone. Jay and Lindsay were staying on in Mexico at a
SUPER LUSHY condo on the hill above Puerto Vallarta, and invited us to join them there! Well, there was no arm twisting involved! We all climbed into the rental car, which we were to return in two days time before flying to Cancun, to head off to PV to check into Lushy Larry's Hideaway!
Arriving at the condo we were all aghast. This place was beyond belief, all windows taking in a view of the entire Puerto Vallarta bay, up stairs was an open terrace with a horizon pool, a covered bar area, and another of the three bedrooms. This place has a kitchen that Emeril would die for... all marble counter tops, glass fronted cabinet doors, stainless steel appliances, every Mod-Con you can imagine. The housekeeper had met us to

Sunsets like this every night. Need we say more? let us in and had Margaritas and hand made guacamole with chips ready for our consumption.... 😊 Yummmy!!! Needless to say we all took a swim, drank delicious margaritas, ate chips and dip, and finished off the evening walking down into old-town for dinner and drinks. Too much fun.
Our time with Jay and Lindsay was also too short, and soon we were on a plane to Cancun, to the El Dorado Royal resort for our actual honeymoon. Jay works as a honeymoon getaway specialist and he was able to book us a spot in this all inclusive, adults only, beach front luxury resort. When we checked in there was so much luxury around us, that after our time in Asia, we actually felt a bit like the riff-raff. However, with smiles on our sunny faces off to our room we went. Again, spectacular room, bed with curtains, bathtub under the windows facing the beach, hammock on the balcony, fluffy robes in the closet, 24-hour room service, this place was almost too good to be true. Turns out the resort has seven restaurants, twelve bars, five pools, and too much other stuff to even bother mentioning. The next
Living it up.
Great friends and great times, not to mention a bit of Tequila... :) five days were filled with drinking fruity time-bomb drinks in the pools and waiting until we were hungry enough to go eat at another one of the great restaurants. We did meet other couples, some even with the same wedding day, Riley and Jess from the east coast were one couple in particular that we had great fun with. There was one day... too many drinks in the pool and an enormous sushi dinner in a quiet little place that we later believed we were entirely too loud for in our state of revelry. Great people those two.
The only fly in the ointment, was that we still had not booked our onward tickets from Cancun and internet time here was approximately $16 per hour! It was free if you had your own laptop , but we were traveling sans computer and were not going to pay those rates. We arranged a day-trip into Cancun to check out some lower cost internet cafes. We got on-line, did some of the research we needed to put our minds at rest, and headed back to our honeymoon retreat. On the first half of our adventure we had all of our
More Tequila...
Can you tell Jay is having fun? flights pre-booked with the space in between unstructured to do with as we pleased. In contrast, part two of our trip was not booked ahead, therefore our plans hung in limbo until we fixed them in place. This was definitely a source of stress we weren't accustomed to yet.
And so once again we changed our perspective, it's amazing what is possible from a place of now. Once we looked at our scenario with a fresh perspective we realized that the entire world was an option instead of just one overpriced destination. (ie. Morocco) Thus, England became a new possibility as well as more time to explore the Yucatan Peninsula. Very good choice! Not only were the plane tickets a quarter of the price but this allowed us to re-visit Justices Cousin and family, Grandma whom was unable to be at the wedding, and Justices oldest friend Kirsty Boys.
So off we headed to downtown Cancun, with a new spring in our step as well as restored excitement. Back to the riff-raff style accommodation we were more accustomed to, rented an economy car and set off on a whirl-wind temple tour of the Yucatan. Amongst the

The site of our wedding. what an amazing day it was! many visited sites were, Chitzen Itza, Ek Balam, Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Isla Murjeres, multiple cenotes and of course Cancun. We had a fantastic time exploring the Mayan region, inhaling Mexican cuisine, and having an opportunity to utilize a language we had more knowledge of in comparison to many of the countries we have visited. Mexico, is a country with a strong growing economy, tight family values, beautiful scenery, ancient culture, and even the animals appear to be more tolerated than years passed. A place we will be sure to return to, perhaps with a family of our own.....
So stay tuned faithful readers to discover where the unplanned road will lead our dynamic duo in jolly ol' England.... Same travel time, same travel blog...... Dream Big or stay home....
