Ed:

Well, just want to start off by saying Thank You to all of you that called (even if it was the middle of the night!), emailed, smsed and sent cards. It was nice that you remembered even though I’m miles and miles away.

Well - the day started with just after midnight the girls at work decided they wanted to be the first ones to wish me a happy birthday - I was in la la land so I have no idea what I said - all I remember is lots of people yelling ‘happy birthday’.

Then at 5am I get a call from Cris - also wanting to be the first person to call! I think Matt is gonna unplug the phone for my next birthday as he has the unfortunate chance of having the phone on his side of the bed!

Anyways, by the time I got out of bed Matt had sneaked downstairs to get some fresh, warm bread and he had breakfast all ready for me! Yay!

He also had all his presents laid out on the bed (in nicely -matched gift wrapping as he does every year). He bought me a sony camcorder which I’d been wanting for ages! Now I can make my own doco’s like that guy from Super Size Me and make my debut on the indie film festival which will lead to my new career as a successful director! Yay! You’re all getting home made movies for birthdays from now on too (not that kind of home movies!) Ha ha

Anywho - the rest of the day was fairly standard. I had training in the morning, then I had a conference for one of my cases. I decided not to tell anyone at work it was my birthday - I know - how unlike me!

That evening Matt organised for a get together with a couple of friends. He booked a table at our local pub called the North London Tavern. It’s been recently refurbished so it’s quite nice and cosy. We were a bit early so had a bottle of Argentinean red wine which went down quite easily… then after everyone arrived we had a nice meal, with lots of drinking and chatter. It was a great night - which was all the better given that I thought I might be bummed that I wasn’t with the rest of the gang back home!

Thanks again for your warm wishes - it’s nice to know I’m not forgotten!

PS. If anyone asks I’m 26 :-)
