atop nohoch mul...
at the mayan ruins of coba so really the best part of this entry is the photos...four different people taking hundreds of photos...we tried to choose a nice little bouquet for all ya'll. so lindsie was able to give a quick overview of our time up till flores...here's my two cents on top of that....
...cenotes are amazing (they are sinkholes that have filled with water and created underwater caves with stalactites and unique fish)
...we have been sitting on our butts for too long (a day of swimming, biking and hiking really tuckered us out)
...dirt roads with the loads that we are carrying are really miserable
...carrie's kitchen in crooked tree is one of the most amazing restaurants in existence, and it's cheap as dirt
...pushing a 450lb motorcycle three miles on a dirt road reminds me of why i like to keep fuel in the tank
...it's a big deal in the states when a bridge gets washed out...now try being in a tiny country with no money spent on infrastucture. we saw the remnants of a big, steel and concrete bridge that was demolished by a flash flood...the water rose over 20 feet higher than normal.
this bridge was the only land connection to a whole bunch of towns. this unfortunate event did allow us to load our bikes up on a trailer and get pulled by a bulldozer across the river...how often does that happen?
...frisbee golf in the jungle is very, very hard (but you should still try it)
...for some reason the only people in central america (thus far) who know how to make good beer are the belizeans...i really like belikin
...arin and i had the most amazing night of pool in our lives when we played against a couple of creole guys in crooked tree...it was a 'clint eastwood' meets 'i'm a hustla' and the results were awesome...we did washington proud (but they were really good)
...always stop for a random pig roast (thank you neb and sylvain)
...birthdays are better with monkeys, ancient ruins, rainbows, toucans, cake and friends (but mostly monkeys~)
...lindsie loves baked potatoes
...arin is a baked potato
...arin is also an amazing dancer (see video)
...waterfalls are always amazing, however they are even more amazing when you swim up to them and find out that they are
stand mighty ladies.
the stairs up nohoch mul actually hot spring waterfalls and their source is a 5ft wide 2 ft deep stream of scalding water originating from a hill in the jungle, i like hot springs.
...guatemala city is confusing and when it rains it rains dirt...that's nasty
...antigua is beautiful
and that is where we are now. enjoy the photos, more later....nate
