Actually, now I'm feeling much better. But two days ago I was terribly sick with what was apparently a bad stomach/intestinal infection which kept me up with a fever and making relatively frequent trips to the bathroom all night. A wonderful woman from Austria who I had been travelling with helped take care of me, without which I don't know what I would have done. So we called the doctor in the morning and he came and checked me out and gave me some injections (of which I've now had a few more, all in the buttocks, which are now becoming quite sore as a result) which took my fever away and made me feel much better. He also took some blood and "gasp" a stool sample to test in a lab to really figure out what we're dealing with. Yesterday and today I have been feeling much better, yesterday I did a little too much and felt poor again but felt fine after resting and drinking a lot of water, and today I felt fine all day but tonight am becoming quite tired again. I thought I might make it the whole time without getting sick but alas, it is not so.

As a result of being sick, I did not get to go to the cinema, which I hear was good fun and am sorry to have missed out on, but I have seen quite a lot else in Jaipur and have enjoyed my time here apart from being sick. There is still some I would like to see but have opted to join some friend in Pushkar tomorrow, after making a final visit to the doctor for one more shot and the final course of antibiotics which I need as he will have the final findings of the analyses. Pushkar sounds very nice and relaxed and I am looking forward to it. I may just relax there for a week or move on to another city in Rajasthan before going to Delhi for my flight.

I went shopping today and spent almost as much as the doctor will cost me, which is quite a bit by my new India standards but so far still cheaper than the travel insurance plans I neglected to purchase, let alone the co-pay I would also pay for them. But I bought lots of beautiful wall hangings and some bed sheets. I still haven't tried to pack it all, but it will be a challenge for sure.

It was absolutely horrible to be sick after not getting sick for something like three years but oh well I guess I had it coming sooner or later, I'm just glad I had a very nice and caring person to help me out with getting water and a doctor, and best of all, some company, which made it not so bad at all. My time is running out so fast, I suppose I will see everyone back home very soon.

Wow
I'm sorry to hear that you got sick. But How amazing is it that you can go through something like that and still come out of it happy to be there and not let it get you down! You sound like you have a lot of strength and a good perspective on things. That's the love and spirit of India - people everywhere are in unfortunate situations but still thankful, hppy, and generous, focusing on the positive. I've heard really nce things about Pushkar -can't wait to hear about it. Love, Laura
