Bangkok 2
Bangkok 2 Bangkok Baby!! what a city.... I think this place has a little bit of everything.
We left the full moon party tired but happy with our island hopping efforts and ready to see another side of thailand, We caught the 12 hour overnight bus to Bangkok and were dropped off at the side of the road near the ko san strip. being 5am We figured anywhere would do but we wern't sure about ko san as we had heard so many traveller horror stories.... but we were lazy and managed to find a place nearby which had a bed bathroom and aircon for a buget price so we were sold. Although we intended to sleep as I hadn't had any on the overnight bus we thought we better do the essentials laundry, shopping for toilet paper etc... on our way back from the laundry we booked a trip to the tiger temple/floating markets and then got ropped into a city tour with a shifty tuk tuk driver... we did a few temples which is what interested us anyway and had the obligitory stop at the suit shop where i ended up buying something (i had been in enough stores now
Bangkok 1
Bangkok 1 so i wouldn't get ripped off too bad!) then the tuk tuk driver took us to another tourist office so we decided to book our tour to chang mai whilst we were at it and then finished with a few temples. I am sure this day was one big scam and we probably over paid for all the things we bought but it was so conveniant i didn't really care.
then the bad news we found out sonia had lost her credit card and the account had been wipped clear.. we cancelled the card all to late and it definately left a dampener on the day. To regain our spirts though we decided to go drinking and put a few away meeting some great travellers and finishing up at 2am.
The next day we woke in a panic as we were not able to find the keys for the room and our tour of the floating markets started at 7am I think i literally emptied every item out of my bag until i found the keys on the floor next to the bed.. great start when you have a hang over 😊
The floating markets were great
Bangkok 3
Bangkok 3 when we got there and we had a good group of girls with us 2 australians and a spanish girl who sonia spoke to all day. We then had lunch and saw the bridge over the river kwai (bad spelling sorry) and then to the tiger temple. I had seen my brother do this before and always thought it would be interesting but when i actually went out there to touch the tigers I realised how freaked out i was... these Tigers are BIG and you can definately feel that if they ever wanted to jump on you that would be it... You can really see how powerful these animals are when you are close like this.
The next day We visited the weekend markets in town.. We caught the skytrain our there which was pretty nice and then we saw the market from the train massive. They say it is 15000 stalls and has 200,000 visitors a day!! With no intention of buying anything we walked out with a new backpack for sonia (her's was broken) 2 shirts, 2 shorts, 2 headbands and a watch. the great thing about this place was that the prices were already set
Bangkok 4
Bangkok 4 up so negotiating was really not needed...(great when you are crap at haggling like me 😊) But the market had everything, snakes, scorpians, turtles, mice, monkeys, carpets, furniture, huge statues 10 foot tall and clothes and food. Sonia didn't get to eat the cockroaches like she wanted but maybe we will find them in another market later (fingers crossed) but another really great and HOT day down tomorrow we are heading North.
