Me at the India Gate, doing some sightseeing on my first day in Delhi.
I am finally leaving my hotel today. It took me two nights to feel confident enough to sleep without the lamp light on. Sometimes there are strange noises in Delhi, and I've found that I've been staying in one of the noisiest. I'm leaving Karol Bagh today and moving into a room in Hauz Khas, South Delhi. I went to view the room the other day and was asked for stay for lunch which I was really grateful for. It was my first taste of real, hommeade Indian food and I appreciated the company. The familiy consists of a boy around my age, and his two younger sisters. The son, Prashant had a few of his friends over and I found out later, when his Canadian friend handed him a card, that it was his birthday. If I would have known, I would have given him something.
After lunch, Prashant showed me around the nearby market. I really liked the area. It's full of outdoor fruit stands, upscale clothing boutiques, magazine stands, and coffee shops. We stopped into Coffee Cafe Day and Prashant's friend bought me a lychee soda. It was so hot outside that I wanted to guzzle the whole

thing in one sip, but I didn't. I think I'll go back to that coffee shop today after I move in. I need to find a place to get my clothes ironed for work on Monday and I need to purchase a cell phone. It's getting too expensive trying to call my family and friends.
I'm really looking forward to settling in somewhere. If I stay in one the rooms, I'll have to get used to an Indian style toilet. I'm a little apprehensive about that.
Ill write more soon. Miss you all!
Rachel
