After Kakadu it was on to Katherine gorge which is said to be one of the main attractions on the route. We arrived late in the park after a quick stop in the scary town so managed to get a free camper spot for the night(a big occasion when your poor and there charging 24 bucks to park your van!!!). The camper park was actually pretty cool and when we were going toilet during the night there was about 50 roo's just running around which didnt amuse melissa too much at all.

The next day we were up early as we thought you had to rent the kayaks at 8am or not at all. We didnt anyway but we were glad we got up as it was the only way we would get up early. So we kayaked up the first gorge which was pretty cool. The highlight was the croc that was on the bank along the way sunning itself. It was only a metre or so long and was a fresh water one so it wasnt agressive or scary. So Katerine was really nice and now we had to get ready for the sick part.

The next day we drove about 800 km's to the Devils Marble's(according to the aborignals, to me it looked like a fww rocks in the desert). All pretty uninteresting. The next day we had to do the last 300 km's to Alice so we could relax for the day before Ayers. Typical me and melissa we only realised driving into Alice that Ayer's Rock was 450 km's out of alice. I nearly exploded when i realised we just added a 900km trip on. So another full day of driving out to Ayers rock ensued. Luckily the scenery on route was spectactular and seeing mount Connor first(which we thought for about an hour was Ayers!!) was cool.

We arrived at the spot and could see the rock in the distance. The next day we drove down at sunrise and not expecting much i didnt have my hopes up. But it was totally worth and absolutely spectacular. We then spent the morning walking around the base(9 km's). We wanted to climb it but it was closed due to high winds which loads of people ignored. I was more worried about the 5 grand fine if your caught!!! Its funny cos they have a sign saying the aborignal people request you do not climb it then a sign beside it saying its open at 6. Stupid really!!

So after that it was back to Alice. 2000km's in 3 days was pretty sick but worth it. Now onto melbourne for another dose of reality!!
