Oh dear, I dont know whats worse.....that he left me or that I only realised 4 days after the fact. Jeff's gone and I guess he won't be coming back. He left me at the lahu village. I remember seeing him flirt with this lady but I don't recall seeing him after that. He must have slipped out to escape when I wasn't looking. Jeff, if you are reading this, I hope you are happy and that you made the right decision. Lyns my dear, Im sorry but he clearly wasn't the one for me. Maybe SHE is taking better care of him, maybe he just wasn't the travelling type. I just don't know.
So after trying to recover from the loss of my little blue companion we made some plans. The 5 day trek went tits up, a combination of not enough people and us losing a little faith in our travel agency. Not to worry though, we are heading to Laos tomorrow to hit the Mekong. Its quite exciting oh yes indeedy.
For the past few days we've just been hanging out in Chiang Mai, our guesthouse manager, Ket had a one-day holiday (the first in god
knows how long - she works 12 hour days, 7 days weeks!) and she took us out on the town. First to a Thai bar with live Thai rock music playing. We were the only farang there but it was an experience! We then went to a crazy wee club called bubble and I managed to suspend my intense hatred of such places and dance my ass off. We had an ace time indeed!
I also popped into the zoo with Agnes (I pretty much had to persuade her to come cause they aint her thing) and saw some excellent monkeys, white/bengal tigers, giraffes, lions, hippos etc. I loved it - I even had a wee piccie taken with a parrot and another big hairy beast which I forget the name of. Apart from that not much happening - eating and drinking too much as usual. I wonder if Laos will offer up opportunities to update my blog. Hope so.
Tomorrow will be exactly 4weeks since I left Manchester. Feels like a lifetime ago. Love you all xxx
Quick Update
In laos now but just off to look at treks, will try and write more soon.
Wat Doi Suthep
This was an amazing Wat temple up on the hill with a beautiful view of Chiang Mai. We went late at night, no tourists and only Thai people and monks doing there prayers. Such a serene experience. Just spent two hours trying to upload photos...
