Sunset on Oia.
Magic, we feel so lucky to be able to visit such a beautiful place. Arrived in Santorini after a tiring 38 hrs in transit. All went smoothly and it was well worth the it as we were met by the lovely staff at Fanari Villas and shown to our room. The views are spectacular and we had just enough time to freshen up before sitting down to a magnificent meal cooked and served by Vladimear. (yes Vladimear) We needed to pinch ourselves as we enjoyed this lovely food and wine overlooking the superb views of the Caldera and the most awesome sunset.
Back to our flight, our only hitch was as we arrived at the airport some fool realised they they had left the video camera on the "decking" table. But don't worry, I purchased another in Singapore so am certain to have several hours of holiday film so our our friends can share every minute of our wonderful trip.
The security checks were tiresome as we queued, stripped ourselves of all personal belongings, unpacked and displayed all toiletries, laptop and anything else to meet the stringent security standards. By the time we arrived in Santorini several dangerous items had been confiscated such as toothpaste, hair gel and a nail file. Still, we felt secure.

View from our bacony We are staying in the town of Oia (pronouned ear) at the Fanari Villas. Janene has excelled (our travel agent), after three days now looking around the island we coudn't have wished for a nicer place. Oia is on the northern tip of the island and people seem to come from all parts of the island for the sunsets. Walking back into the village is lovely, winding our way through the tiny lanes amongst the pristine white buildings is a delight. The villliage is built along the top of sheer cliffs that form part of the crater around this volcano, we are constantly rounding a corner to another glimpse of this sensational location.
We have had three glorious days in this paradise walking up and down the many steps around our villa and down the many hundreds of steps to the shores of the Aegean Sea. We have visited Fira which is also a beautiful town with magnificent views from even higher cliffs where we marvelled at the many resturants built in the most precarious places on the edge of the cliffs.
Today we leave for Athens to begin the next part of our journey. Evharisto
