The Kindergartens are going to WHAT kind of presentation!

You know when you reach a certain age you are told that you will be subjected to a sex-ed class...usually around grade 5 or so. Well not in a Korean Hagwon apparently! They just wait until the ripe old age of 4 because every 4 year old must know their anatomy and what it will look like in oh 10 or so years! I had been prepared for this by my wonderful co-workers who have prepared me for just about everything so far but what I witnessed was far more than I had been expecting!

First we took the 5 year olds (7 in Korean) to one of the classrooms and a woman came in and spoke to the kids in Korean (no worries I didn't need to know what she was saying to GET IT). She talked about strangers and what to do if one tried to take you and all of that and then came the dolls. YES dolls! First out of the bag popped a girl and a boy, nicely dressed in a summer dress and a pants and shirt get up. Well the clothes didn't last long because naturally she had to strip them down to show the class what their body looks like. This wasn't so bad...the kids weren't all stupid about it they watched and listened with the attention of a caddy watching the boss putt. I can't say the same for the teachers! All of whom had seen this presentation before! NEXT came the adults and let me tell you that no detail was spared! The lady must have been good because the kids were mesmerized and acted with such incredible grace that I had to wonder how kids back home would act. When all of that was over we went back to class and a little later after the 4 year olds had watched the same presentation we all went in and watched a video of what happens when you get to a certain age and start having certain feelings and blah blah blah you know the drill. Naturally it was animated with characters that had clearly been coloured in by my kids and voiced by 50 year olds attempting to sound like teenagers and 20 somethings. They went through allllll the gruesome details of puberty, a reality these kids don't even have to think about for quite a few years. Anyway we all naturally laughed in the back of the classroom together. I think Natasha had an issue with the birth scene, although I informed her that clearly after delivering her baby she'll be able to jump up and dance around so all would be well! Now I wanted to take pictures but honestly I think there is something rather pervy about photographing naked detailed plush toys...but maybe that's just me! Besides I forgot to put the memory stick back in my camera!

In other news I am officially a resident. I got my Alien Registration Card which is exciting because I was also able to set up my bank account! YAY no more hording $1600 in my drawer!

We had also been talking about going to Busan as a group over the May 12th long weekend because the one guy from Convo club gets 70% at the 5 star Paradise Hotel there and we could get ocean view rooms for $150 for 2 ppl rather than $500! Naturally it's a very busy weekend and they are all booked, besides the only reason he gets that deal is because his company is a sister company of the hotel chain and it would be like supporting the tobacco companies...as his company is a tobacco company.

Oh hell I'll totally would have gone...and still intend to on a different weekend!

And on another note I arrived back at my desk today to see a package from Kate in Australia and guess what was in that package. (mom you're going to be jealous!) TIM TAMS!! Naturally they got opened right away and I shared them with the other teachers! Annette knew what they were because she studied in Australia and had had them so she was excited! I'm going to devote half of my suitcase to them when I go down in July!
