howland hills rolling along well, we finally made it to posting an entry....1000 miles into the journey of course, but better late than never. here's the quick recap...we left in a flurry (as most trips are left in), but eventually made it over to the peninsula and to greet us, it was REALLY wet and cold for a week. it was quite miserable actually. it took us time to get used the loads and taking turns on wet, cold pavement...needless to say the going was slow. and our fingers hurt.
oregon...better weather (our first day of sunshine), rogue brewery, better time...
california...hell yeah. i love the redwoods, we have wandered all around and seen some big, old trees (understatement). the drive through howland hills was fantastic (though it was not the kind of thing our bikes were meant for...wet, muddy and narrow roads, but through some amazing groves). and of course, a semi-pilgrimage to the notorious Hawg Wild biker bar in rough and tough orick, ca. many beers embibed and some awesome people met (thanks mark for the beer and fantastic food and hal for just being crazy and canadian). i recommend this bar to anyone heading that direction. eureka treated us well, we stayed
hawg wild
aren't our bikes burly with some random folks we met while leaving hawg wild...bill, becca and abel...great folks with an excellent winery suggestion. breweries all along the way (lost coast, eel river, north coast...), a section of highway 1, avenue of the giants, met with sara and stayed at a casino (mmm...bed).
needless to say the trip has been great thus far. and we haven't had any major motorcycle issues...just a little burning oil and headlight malfunction. and we finally hit 70 degree weather...ahhhh...now if only my skin would quit blinding people with it's glimmering white radiance. -)n
